Is "midseason form" actually built into the game?

When a pitcher has a good game in April/May the announcers will say he's in midseason form already. Is there actually a midseason form and a change in a players ability througout the year? Or is that just something the announcers say?

Ah, that is a good question. Also, is there a penalty of throwing your starters too much in Spring Training or early on in the season? Will starters start to tire out at the end of the year, causing their chances of injury to rise?

I'd guess that there are no penalties for throwing your starters too much early on and that there is no midseason form in the game.

Very good question. Do players have to establish themselves or are they the purest form each time a game is played, regardless of the time of year?

I don't think there is any "season long fatigue" in the game. It would be nice. Having to manage your starters innings early in the season as well as your bullpens.

This is actually a great question, because I've been debating with myself how careful I need to be with my players in spring training. Pitchers mostly, but position players to some extent too.

I guess technically there is because if you use your pitchers too much, their energy might not recover all the way before their next start.

Yeah it is there, but I would like to see it maybe never get back to 100% for some pitchers who have a lot of innings on them come later August, September time. Instead of a starter getting back to 100% if they have 175+ innings say August 25 maybe they only get back to 92% stamina and even less for MRP. I don't know I am just rambling but just a thought.

Yeah it would be a great addition to franchise mode, but my worry is that it would somehow effect postseason performance. For example your ace piles up alot of innings which lowers his stamina down the stretch which would be a awesome manager addition, but could it possibly stop your better pitchers with alot of innings during the season from putting up longer performances in the playoffs.
