    Jersey change when editing players...why?!?

I've had this problem where I download a few players (ie: Cal Ripken, Ken Griffey Jr) and when I go to edit them (like their ages), their jersey number changes automatically (from 24 to 32 in Griffey's case, Cal's changed from 8 to 14). Is there anyway to override this automatic change?

It hasn't happened with regular players yet...i'd appreciate some help if anyone's got a fix.

    Thanks!

I don't think the game will let you take numbers that are retired, or are out of circulation but are not retired such as 51 for Randy Johnson in Arizona and 24 in Seattle for Griffey.

If the team you put them on already has a player with the same number it will change their number. If thats not the cause maybe the number is retired for the team you have them on. Other than that i wouldnt really know.

As both above have said - somebody currently has the #, or its retired/not in circulation.

I was able to get 24 in Seattle for Griffey. When it came to the Orioles and putting Cal Ripken back on the team, I had a bit of trouble - ended up going with his Dad's number (#7) rather than 8 (not available).

          Thanks so much guys!

7 should also be locked as should another for Ripken Sr and another player (both have not been issued since their deaths)
