Am I over reacting here ? I feel like Im getting thrown out far too often taking second on a ball hit to the wall in the gap and down the line in the corner. Just as a quick example Bautista hit a two hopper to the wall in the RCF gap and was easily thrown out at second on the relay throw. And Thames, one of the best runners on the team couldnt even stretch a ball hit into the corner into a double.

I kinda feel any ball hit to the RCF gap is a double for anyone in the league most times. Especially when it gets down for a couple hops and is played off the wall by the fielder.

My sliders are default BTW and this happened in Sky Dome more often I play my games here. Maybe a dimension of the park thing ? I dont want to go messing with the sliders if this is an anomaly.

I think it's a combination of things... I don't think it's anomaly, and you can alleviate the problem somewhat by slider tweaking. Not that I'm suggesting to do, but you may want to glance at what slider guys are doing. Most lower Fielder-related sliders a bit to balance things better.

You're not overreacting at all, I think the majority of users here will agree with you, although we all seem to disagree when it comes to what the cause is (and thus, what the solution is).

For someone as yourself who expresses interest in making as few slider changes as possible, I think the least destructive solution by far, is to lower the Fielder Arm Strength Slider. Obviously this slider affects outfielders more than infielders, so the #1 stat it will affect is extra-base hits.

Bringing it down to 3 should be enough, although I have mine set at 2.

I hit a ball which went to the 377 sign in the right-center power alley against Texas on many bounces and got thrown out at second.

It's also because the physics on this game were done by a C student. I have a youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDzP11y_uWA of a long single I hit. The ball bounces what 3 or 4 times before it hits the wall, upon which an impossible co-efficient of restitution actually increases its speed to a perfectly positioned Josh Hamilton.

I apologize for the poor video. If a ball bounces 3 or 4 times to the wall and hits the area beneath the padding it almost always sits there. They don't need physics for this to be programmed in. Physics only complicates this. Get most of it out.

The physics on this game suck. People need to know this. They aren't a game killer by any means, but let's call a spade a spade. If they were tested at all, they were done so poorly.

I'm not arguing the legitimacy of the physics in action on that clip but I would say they didn't impact the play.

The ball looked like it behaved reasonably to me right until contact with the wall. Looks to me like the base runner speed and arm strength and fielder speed are not in sync if that makes sense ?

Runner is too slow fielders a touch to fast and arm strength far to strong. Maybe a single click reduction in arm strength, fielder speed, and baserunner speed up one click might make a difference here.

He is one of the slowest guys out there. I have no idea who the fielders were from that angle but Paul freakin' Konerko?

And J. Ham has a gun for an arm!!! Bad combination. I didn't see anything wrong with the outcome of the play.

I do think with the next patch, the amount of ground rule doubles caused by the ball bounce in the outfield needs to be decreased.

Agreed. But really the outfielder thing is off. I have trouble making it to 2B with Curtis Granderson hitting a line drive in the RF gap at Yankee Stadium. In real life he's either relaxing at 2B or 3/4 of the way to 3B by the time pretty much any outfielder finally gets the ball in back to the infield from the gap. In The Show he has to slide in to make it. Just doesn't make sense. Lowering the fielder arm strength helps a bit though.

I've not had this problem. I've yet to get thrown out at 2nd or thrown someone out myself. But I don't use default sliders either. But I didn't even see it before I messed with the sliders. If it looks like it's going to be too close I play it safe and stay at first. But I've hit plenty of doubles.

The right slider adjustments cure this minor issue.

Go to the slider forum and check out some settings.

I have looked, I was not looking for a cure at this point as much as clarification on the issue or if it was an issue at all.

Problem with sliders is there is rarely a set that addresses one issue. So taking a set with altered fielding attributes may cause me to have to adjust other things as well.

And IMO the game needs very minor adjustments. Most slider guys look for things to correct or make adjustments too. After all, if they agreed on issues they would not need to produce so may different sets.

The thread is not a slider question as much as it is a "how do you feel about this issue" thread. Apparently from what I have seen here its around 50 50 so a very minor tweak in one of least impactful of the sliders I mentioned may yield the desired results over the course of a season.

So I guess it is safe to assume that because of this one play you will never hit a double with Paul Konerko? Because that's the gist of what you're saying and I would be willing to bet people here can prove you wrong.
