    Franchise Scouting

Anyone else have this problem in their franchise:

I scouted so many guys, and by time the draft came, it seems like half the guys I scouted aren't even in the draft.

I even checked some names I scouted before the draft, then went into the draft, and they weren't even there...

Some don't go pro right away, for example 16 yr olds won't be eligible until 18 in the game and some will wait all the way until 22. Just be patient, they'll eventually show up.

I just scout everyone lol. Don't really care about position, just scout everyone and the second you know their potential, stop scouting them and move on. Trade logic is so bad, you could just end up trading that B potential Catcher you drafted for a B potential SP you wanted but couldn't draft.

I choose some players at age 22 usually about 50-60% are 22 so I know they'll be i the draft, then I scout 18 year olds, longer time to develop, but only about 33% that they'll go to the draft. I scout some 19-21 but the chance of them going pro is lower at that age so I usually don't bother.

How many players do you usually get scouted before the draft?

                A few questions...
                1. How long does it take to unlock a player's potential?
                2. Do you - any of you - use the Auto feature for your scouts, or do you actually select the positions you want him to search for?
                3. How often should I change his assignments if I do not use the Auto option?
                4. Does a scout's rating reflect his ability to accurately judge a player's potential?
                5. If a scout is really poorly rated at one position, should I even bother to use him to scout those positions?

                  1. It's part how skilled that scout it on scouting that position and part luck i believe.

                  2. i've tried the auto, and it could work out after a couple years of manual scouting. Having it on auto, the computer will scout the 16-17 year olds that won't be in the draft, and they'll completely scout a player before moving on, when you really just need the potential unlocked. If you are going to do auto , i wouldn't select specific positions generally, it leave that on auto also.

                  3. Change his assignments as soon as a player has his potential unlocked.

                  4. No, it just takes him longer to scout that position.

                  5. If a scout is poorly rated at a position, its not that he won't scout a player in that position well, it just takes him longer to do it... Matter of preference, i'll still let them scout any position.

                      Re: Franchise Scouting

On The Show 11, I used auto scouting (just set the focus to what the scout's strengths were) and let it take care of itself.

It did pretty well. I usually got at least one or two B prospects (my team was usually at the bottom of the draft each year) and several C's. I think I might have ended up with one D each year (with only a handful of players left at the end of the draft).

Glad I came across this thread. I was scouting 16 year olds, thinking I'd get them in my system early and groom them to be 19 year old phenoms in the majors, lol. Now I know better!

I don't count, but each scout seems to get each guys potential after 1-2 weeks, and with 4 scouts scouting a total of 15 guys, seems like I'll get around 100+ guys scouted, but not even half end up being in the draft...
