HELP NEEDED FROM SONY - Question regarding catcher freeze?

The catcher freeze bug was not ignored. There was just difficulty reproducing it (a necessary step for fixing it in this case). Knowing there is a bug is not the same thing as fixing it unfortunately. If there are more specific details that may help reproducing the issue, please PM. I assume this has only been seen online...correct? How many runners were on base? Which base(s)? Was the dropped 3rd strike blocked and deflected away, short-hopped caught, or completely passed? A video would be really helpful.

Unfortunately I don't play online very much so I haven't seen it.

I just PMed the three people (Bahnzo, mondoguitar, Spring Rubber) I saw discussing it in the patch thread, asking them to post here. That way they are aware of this thread ASAP.

Bumping because this hasn't been stickied yet.

With a Patch out today, this will get lost in the shuffle FAST.

I haven't seen it and I've played well over 50-60 games and have watched and/or managed and additional 100+.

Not a guarentee, but I think it's safe to it's online only. I've had ZERO freezes in over 150 games. All offline.

Hey Wood,

I had it happen to me once in our online league, last week. The particulars were:

Top 9, 1-out, nobody on base... Jose Valverde pitching. Albert Pujols was batting with an 0-2 count. The pitch was a splitter in the dirt, that the catcher caught on a short hop. I can't remember if it was a check swing, or full swing (just in case that matters). The camera transitioned to the wide view as normal, and the player indicator was underneath my catcher. I first tried to throw to first with no result, so I thought maybe he didn't have the ball, so I wiggled the analog stick to get him to pick the ball up, but he wouldn't move and was frozen in his position. I don't think he stood up (may or may not have.) My opponent stopped at 1B, and the game continued a few seconds later, so I don't know if he could have advanced all the way around or not. The played was scored an E2.

Ironic thing is, I was going to record that game using my PVR, to show how online ran, but decided I didn't want to go thru the setup. I may have stopped recording that late in the game anyway.

The times it has happened to me is on a swinging third strike that the catcher catches on a hope. He doesn't have to move, but the screen cuts away to the wider shot from behind home plate (as usual), but the catcher is stuck in his "I got the ball on a hop" pose.

I can concur that when this has happened to me, the catcher catches the ball on a hop. It doesn't get away at all. Any other particulars (count, men on base, or even pitch thrown) I don't recall. If it happens again, I'll make sure to get a replay of it with full details.

Is anyone interested in playing on online game where we purposely get the count to 2 strikes, throw a curveball in the dirt, and the batter swings at it? I'd like to test it with runners on base vs. runners not on base to see if it makes any difference. Ideally, we'll find that it is indeed due to a particular animation; hopefully we can find a situation in which the glitch occurs 100% of the time.

My PSN is SpringyRubber if anyone is interested. We'll friendly quit the game we get enough data out of it.

So far, my leads are that this issue arises on-line only when there is a dropped 3rd strike that results in a short-hop catch by the catcher. It does not matter what bases are occupied.

Any other details? Seemed like there were more people that experienced this issue than this thread indicates...

I believe every time this glitch happened to me it was on a slider pitch.
