I think this is an annual thing, no? I remember Mauer doing the same thing last year.

But what if CC actually announced that there was going to be a patch for both PS3/Vita coming up next week? We say BIIIIG NEWS!!! But then the whole audience in that show would go "what the hell is that???"

Re: Vita Patch?

Forgive me but I'm confused about this issue. I waited until AFTER the patch to start my franchise (started it on PS3). After playing a few games on PS3 I used the cloud save and played a couple more on Vita. I then uploaded the Vita save to the cloud and transferred it back to PS3 but I haven't had a chance to actually play any more games on PS3 yet. So am I ok since this was all done post-patch?

After reading through this thread I am nervous to use the cross-platform save feature at all, and now I'm worried that I may have already messed it up by transferring back & forth. From what I can gather, this freezing is only happening to those who started their franchise pre-patch, but I want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Re: Vita Patch?

Your vita doesn't have a patch, so its basically like you did start your franchise pre-patch... Your cloud save is likely corrupted.

Re: Vita Patch?

So now I'm not sure what to do.....

I just wanted to play so I started a new patched PS3 Franchise, hoping a patch will come along and a new Franchise will transfer fine.

Playing that just made me want to go back to my old Franchise though, which is really messed up because I downloaded the patch without thinking and completed a game, cloud saved and played for a couple days on the Vita before loading it back to the PS3 and finding out there was an issue.

Anyways My last save is after a May 1st game against Oakland, which always freezes when I transfer, but I was doing some more testing.....and it looks like if I finish the series on the Vita, get past the Oakland series, it's transferring without freezing.

I'm really tempted to keep playing that, but I don't want to play another 30 games before finding out it's going to total lock up again or go crazy when I play the Mariners or something, though it is now past May......
I dunno. This blows.

Re: Vita Patch?

How long has it been now? A couple of weeks at least. Im stunned now that we still don't have at the very least a definitive answer on what to expect.

Rym I honestly don't know what to tell you. I would say you should be fine but there are a handful of people that are getting freezes all throughout the season, way past April.
My only advice would be to use multiple saves, so that if you encounter a "dead end" freeze, you can sim past the date or something.

As a huge supporter and buyer of The Show the last 5 years Im kinda surprised. I bought a PS3 just for the Show in 08 and have been amazed at the dedication and communication from SCEA. Im surprised at the silence. Its really odd to me. Imagine the people not on OS. They also have no clue whats goin on. SOME communication would go a LONG ways.

My thoughts exactly. For whatever reason, the devs have been silent about
this one. Which is very much out of the ordinary for them.

Which definately leads me to believe this is probably a much bigger problem to solve than many people think.

Cross platform saves were a very key selling point. If the last patch did something to cripple that, and no solutions are working 100%, or if a patch for the Vita comes out to fix it(and possibly another needed on PS3) and renders the current franchise useless(or something along those lines). No matter what- its going to make a lot of people angry.

I just feel being silent about the whole thing is making matters worse. Throw out something. Honesty would be the best policy.

Who knows, maybe I am over thinking it. Hopefully we hear something soon, and the issue is corrected. Fantastic game of baseball this year.

Re: Vita Patch?

Nothing official of course, but Woodweaver@SCEA has written on this forum a few times that he would fix certain things for Vita... so they must have been meaning to release a patch all this time, thought probably not on this franchise freeze issue context. I still bet there will be a patch at some point. At the very least, they should be able to release a patch in which everything works fine as long as you start a new franchise with a post-patch game...

And this save file issue kinda shows how *clumsy* things can be to attempt franchise/RTTS carry over across different years (though I still strongly wish that eventually happens....). In this case, it's the same game, same year, they tried to fix certain things but in doing that something else broke. Unless the code base has been very robust and designed from outset to accommodate changes like this, problems like this are bound to happen.

Not trying to defend the devs on the silence, but if we consumers exert pressure on them to release something that gives us fresh new experiences every year, and they have only 9 months to do all they must be doing, I could guess they might be doing a lot of dirty hacks just to make things work well enough before every release date.
