Fix for bad trade logic in future games

I know this might be beating a dead horse, but this is one of the major complaints of the game. I know there is a fix in 30 team control, but not all of us want that.

What if they implement a setting where you get to act as comish of the league(while also owning/running your favorite team) and can veto any deal that you don't think is realistic?

if it's been posted before just lock the post. But I thought it was a good idea.

You can do that with 30 team control. You just run the team you want and set the cpu to control all the stuff on other teams. Then when there is a proposed trade you can reject it if you don't like it.

I've always liked the idea of a comish mode. Not only trade vetoes, but imagine re-alignment, playoff system adjustments, expansion, the option to turn off interleague play, etc...

is there a way to do 30 team control, and not have to draft for every single team? because that's the one thing that's holding me back

I don't know. I don't do 30 team control, I just know about the trades.

Re: Fix for bad trade logic in future games

I would think teams making A-potential prospects more valuable to hang on would help this, as they are the ones that are traded around if they aren't close to MLB-ready. Like a team would only give up an A-potential player only if they're getting a A-potential superstar back, but it'd be more a 1-for-1 or 1-for-2 (A superstar like Adrian Gonzalez for someone like Bryce Harper, then a C-level prospect).

I think what throws things out-of-whack is that the base rosters themselves have a small number of A-potential players, so there aren't that many transactions when they're tested, but minor league rosters available online tend to have more A-potential players because potential is scattered throughout a team's minors, and hence we see more.

no, but nothing wrong with hitting square and having AI select best player available or team option

Re: Fix for bad trade logic in future games

Seems to me like there is no way to oversee all the trades and have the CPU come up with trades.

If I use 30 team control, then there are no CPU teams to offer me trades. And if I use single team control, then I'll get trades proposed to my team, but the CPU will make ridiculous trades between themselves.

                  What step am I missing?

Lol, what's funny is that they've advertised "improved trade logic" fixes for the past three years. But every year people are less than happy with it. Next year, maybe fourth time's the charm?

                      Actually....most people are never happy.
They just also happen to have a big chapter here on O.S.
I have a special name for them, but I like posting here....so I'll refrain.

It's a pretty good list too!

Re: Fix for bad trade logic in future games

I was hesitant about the 30 team control as well, but other than setting the 25 man roster at the end of spring training (hustlin has a roster out with this already done if you want), it's fairly painless.

I just roll along with the Cards on manual and the other 29 teams are on auto with a 2nd profile. Just check every couple of days during the schedule to see if there are some crazy trade offers out there and you can reject them.

Also, not sure if it's the same thing someone mentioned earlier, but with the above setup, the other teams are offering me trades.

The draft is the only drawback to me, but as has been mentioned previously, square is your friend during that time.

You need TWO profiles. One for your team, and one for the other 29 teams.

Profiles are assigned to teams when you start your franchise. (You can also create new profiles, and assign them to individual teams while inside of franchise if you so choose).

You set the options for YOUR profile (meaning YOUR team) to all manual.

You set the options for the second profile (the one assigned to the other 29 teams) to all AUTO. These teams will now act as if they are computer controlled teams, but you can jump in and make any changes you see fit to make.

Yeah, I figured out that you can't have instant trades on. Also, there isn't a notification for a trade, you have to view the pending transactions page each day to make sure a ridiculous trade doesn't go through.
