Top Five Digital Ballparks: #3 Camden Yards

When Camden Yards opened in 1992, it was a revolutionary ballpark in the sense that it returned baseball to its roots. Gone were the days of lifeless cookie cutter stadiums which, when a baseball field was present, felt about as natural and alive as a robot trying to compose a beautiful symphonic melody.

Sometimes, the old-timers just knew how to build em right. And in this case, when you take a lot of the old and you mix in some specks of new -- you get a masterpiece. The dominant feature of Camden Yards is the orange brick warehouse beyond right field. This is one of the most unique sight lines in all of baseball, with both that and downtown Baltimore in view beyond center field.

The stadium itself is now 20 years old, and it shows no signs of aging and is sure to be around for decades to come. And why not? How could you improve upon this masterpiece in Baltimore?

The park is a hitters friendly ballpark, with the deepest dimension being 410 feet to left center flanked by a 333 foot left field wall and a 318 foot right field wall.

Favorite part, the SRO section in RF. Now that they have lowered it, you can see everything and you are about 20 feet from boogs BBQ and the warehouse bar. Should be your number 2 stadium though with PNC park being #1 IMO.

Basically, catch a game in the RF bleachers and you cant go wrong.

Ditto that! When i lived down in Virginia we made sure Boog's was the first place we hit at the stadium. I just can't believe it's already been 20 years

I believe the stadium's official name is Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The only time I've been to a game at Camden we actually sat in the RF bleachers. I didn't know it was the spot but I enjoyed it. Anyway, I've been to 11 or 12 different ballparks in person and Camden is my favorite.

Man I love the whole thing. I grew up about 10 minutes south of the stadium. I went to the very first game which was a scrimmage and the very first opening day. I was also there when Griffey Jr. hit the warehouse during the HR Derby. Juan Gonzales hit an underated homer in that derby that hit off the facade of the upper deck in left field. The place is just great, it oozes baseball.

I live 20 minutes north of Oriole Park, and have been a huge O's fan since birth. I go to about 3-4 games each year, and am always taken aback at the absolute beauty of this stadium. It's the pride and joy of the city of Baltimore. My favorite part has to be the Warehouse. It just makes this stadium so unique.

Despite being a life-long Astros fan, I am breaking my trend and going to play an Orioles franchise this year. The park played a major factor in my decision, along with the tradition of the team.

I have never used any team for a franchise except the 'stros playing MLB, so I am going to enjoy playing home games @ Camden Yards and seeing the other AL parks.
