Need Help Please
I have a question that pertains to batting in the game. I wanna know what are the right times to use the power button and the contact button? ( I got ps3 so square button & circle button). I'm having a little hard time because I also use the "x" button and have had hits and HR's. I thought if I use the contact button with contact hitters and the power button with pwr hitters then that would be the end of it but it seems I go back to using the x button to get hits. So if anyone can give me some pointers I would appreciate it. Thank you in advancexXxDrUnKeN_MaStAxXxTags: None -

Re: Need Help Please
First off, I basically never use the power button. Maaaaybe, once every five games or so. Usually, when the game has already been decided. Is much more risk than reward. I hit more than enough hr's, just using the x button. Is really no need power up.
I use the contact button if the count is 0-2, 1-2, and sometimes even 2-2 (depending on the hitter). Basically in a situation where the pitcher has the advantage, and tries to get you to chase pitches out of the zone and nibble on the corners. -

I agree entirely with Scrapps. The power button butchers your PCI (plate coverage indicator), so any contact at all is rare and probably has to be on a platter for you just to get a piece. Going back to the actual issue of issue of contact, when you do hit the ball, most of the time (for me, anyway) the ball won't be hit as solidly, making for a bunch of easy groundouts.
If the count is 2-1 or 3-1, and I suspect a fastball or curve right down the middle, I might risk a power swing, but that's about it. You'll get so much more success with the regular swing than with the power swing, both average and homer wise.Mariners - Cubs: 2012 World Series

Re: Need Help Please
For Classic I just use the regular button for most hitting situations and only the contact swing for counts after two strikes which seems to help, I never use the power swing. Also you might boost you vision ( training ) as much as you can with training points and that helps with your batting average as well. When you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Yogi Berra

Re: Need Help Please
This is what I do...
0-0 Normal Swing
0-1 Normal Swing
0-2 Contact Swing
1-0 Normal Swing
1-1 Normal Swing
1-2 Contact Swing
2-0 Power Swing
2-1 Normal Swing
2-2 Contact Swing
3-0 Take the pitch, never swing
3-1 Power Swing
3-2 Contact Swing
To sum up I use power swing on 2-0 and 3-1 counts, but only if I have a power hitter at the plate. On all 2 strike counts I always use contact swing. It helps you foul off pitches and also makes it easier to check swing. Hope this helps.BOSTON BRUINS
