    5th and 6th Innings

What is it with these two innings? I could be pitching a perfect game and about 90 percent of the time these things happen:

    - I lose lead
    - Other team will tie
    - Other team will come from behind
    - Opposing pitcher becomes Nolan Ryan on roids with full confidence and the ability to pitch 150 pitches on an empty tank...

Happens almost every game during the 5th and 6th innings...almost never fails

    I play season mode..All-Star pitching/batting

its because the AI is dynamic. it notices trends in your pitching. For example if the count is 0-2 and you throw a curve in the dirt, the AI will remember that is what you do on 0-2. Or if you always throw fastball for a strike on the first pitch, the AI will remember that. You need to focus on mixing your pitches and not doing the same thing over and over

Yeah, the CPU can recognize pitches if you keep following a pattern. Also, these things can happen in any inning. So be alert! Lol.

            Re: 5th and 6th Innings

Hahaha. I used to have that problem too. Now my pitchers mostly get into the 7th or 8th.

            Tips:
Don't try to strikeout every batter. Focus on making quality pitches. Catch batters off of balance with balls in the zone. Instead of 5+ counts you only use up 2 or 3 pitches. And that spread matters.

Pitch backwards. If the first time through you lead mostly with fastballs, mix in a changeup. Specially to the hitter with little or no patience. A slider works great if you've been previously working the outside with fastballs. Curveballs works great after throwing fastballs high in the zone. It's like chess, throw a pitch to setup the next one.

Know your hitters. If they're patient, sneak a fastball past them. If they aren't attack them with a variety of offspeed pitches.

And if you're going to throw a slider in, make sure you set it up in the at bat with a fastball in. Sliders in get crushed when the batter expects it. Same thing with change ups.

I also find, and this is purely me, that if I can fool my mind into thinking I'm throwing a fastball, and instead throw a change up, it works better, lol. There maybe something to it, the game might read the pressure you apply to the controller in the act of throwing fastballs. Maybe I'm the only one who holds the X down with authority while throwing the heat. I also find visualizing where I want the pitch to go before release works as well. I know I'm sounding crazy, but it works for me. Maybe cause it forces me to slow the game down. Ninja

Thanks for the tips..I thought I was mixing up my pitches quite well..I do not always take what the catcher is asking for..like a curve on a bases loaded 2-1 count..

I see people say this every year but I've never seen anything like that in my seasons. Of course the CPU comes back from time to time but no more than real life. I'm good at placing pitches and good at knowing how to throw my breaking pitches which I guess keeps this from happening. There's definitely an art to throwing the curves, sliders and splits....knowing where to place the ball marker and knowing where to stop on your meter. Nothing better in this game than to strike out the CPU with a gorgeous deuce.

i usually see this kind of burst from the CPU in the 7th inning...rather than the 5th or 6th. Maybe its a mental thing though. But to me, it always seems like when that 7th inning comes up, the cpu starts hacking anything thats near the strike zone and they find the craziest gaps in the outfield. Ive gotten better at trying to pitch around the 7th inning hacking lately though, so as a few guys above said, the dynamic AI definitely has something to do with this.

An up and in fastball is your best friend in these innings. I don't know how many jams I've been able to get out of by using this pitch

AGREED!!! haha, i have found myself being able to use the up and in fastball a lot more in the later innings than i do in early innings.

I'll have to try that..however, I use classic pitching, ball doesn't always like to go where you want to throw it..even with pitchers who have impeccable control

There is an AMAZING classic pitching discussion in the sliders forum. Definitely look for HeroesAndVillains post on the 5th page of the thread. Absolutely goldmine for any franchiser using classic pitching!

The essence of what I think would help you though, is to approach classic like "Zone" pitching. Since I've started trying to hit a certain zone rather than a certain spot, my effectiveness as a pitcher in franchise has increased noticeably.

Either way, definitely check that thread out. I really think ANY pitcher could benefit from it, but it has the most use for classic pitchers.

                            http://www.operationsports.com/forum...sses-tips.html

This topic is very taboo on the forum because it comes up so much. I saw it when I first began playing The Show back in 10. It's all about relaxing and not getting frustrated. I'm not kidding the late innings and the fact that the CPU is able to adapt to how you pitch and hit makes this game unlike any other sports game. Ultimately it's what makes it so fun to play. Frustrating? Yes, but when you sit back and think about it you say to yourself, you know what I didn't deserve to win because I was doing this wrong and that wrong.

When pitching in the late innings you really have to think and pitch how a real life pitcher would, otherwise you will get shelled in the 7th inning and your three hitter suddenly turns into a 4 run 7 hit inning.

I used to think the same thing until I got better at the game and mace better pitches. Playing better cures a lot of the games ills.

Bubba Blue (Mykelti Williamson) Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There's, um, shrimp kebabs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple shrimp and lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich... That's, that's about it.
