With no disrespect to the NHL, FIFA and NBA 2K series, The Show is by far the best sports game on a console. I have owned every iteration since The Show 08 and for the first time I really stopped, looked and appreciated what I was playing.
The visuals, player animation variety, crowds, stadium sounds, etc. are incredible. Not sure why it took me this long to really look at what I was playing but the game is absolutely incredible. The attention to detail like including pink bats on Mother's Day for breast cancer awareness is just the tip of the ice berg.
This will be a game that in the future people will look back and call it a classic. It has its imperfections and people dog the commentary (which I find well done but basically nothing new for a few years) but the game's overall package eliminates any such issues.
In a world where people criticize first and appreciate later, I hope everyone stops in the middle of a game (regardless of what it is) to look around and see what it is they are actually playing.
Even NCAA 13 for its negative attention is a beautiful game.
