What's the point in even playing with Timing or Pure Analog hitting?

Too much is taken out of your hands. I just had an AB where I had perfect stride and swing... and got a just missed. WTF? I might as well just sim everything because it doesn't matter what I do, it is all about VIS and Clt rating...

I am playing on Pure Analog because I'm not good enough to play with Zone Plus. If I do every thing perfect, the game should not say "Well, screw you, you're missing this pitch just because."

This game will drive a man to drink... I swear.

I like Timing (and Classic pitching) because it emphasizes player ratings. And thus, the game becomes less about my (diminishing) stick skills and more about my decision-making skills - both on the field and in the front office.

But that's one of the great things about this series - there's so many different ways to play the game.

Meh, when I'm playing a video game... and I make the right decision and execute a perfect swing... I expect to at least get the bat on the ball.

Meh? So your way is the only way? Different strokes for different folks, he already explained to you why he likes to play the way he does. Your way is no better for him than his way is for you. Is that hard to understand?

That's what makes The Show so great, it's got something for everyone. Not sure what it is with kids obsessions as to why the way they do things has to be the "right" and "only" way.

I never bashed his view. I just think, IMO, when I execute a PERFECT swing (which is difficult in this game) then I should at least put the ball in play... and it is maddening when you whiff on a pitch down the middle with perfect swing and stride.

Is that really worth trying to start something over?

Which is why your reaction to his opinion started with "Meh", and then an explanation why your way is better.

Keep this in mind Limpy. The Show is a simulation at it's soul. Which is why the game is the king of all console sports games.

                  Period.

So with that in mind. If you play ball or played ball....you know you can have a perfect, beautiful swing and whiff, pop out, top a ball into the ground, chop a ball.....and sometimes tear the cover off for a majestic HR, a gap double or triple that rolls into the corner.

That's baseball in a nut shell. And that is why I love the Show. They do it so damn well. Hitting and pitching on timed and classic..... true video game perfection in conveying the beauty, pitcher/batter showdown and statistical randomness of the great game we call baseball.

Yeah, I understand that. And, really, it is why I love this game. It is just the most frustrating thing, ever, when you work a count, get a pitch down the middle, execute a swing and... whiff. You look at your vision indicator and it is inexplicably a foot below where the ball is in the zone.

I guess this thread is more of just a "let some steam out" post. I've been struggling in my RTTS, even though I have good AB's.

Oh I hear you. I have gone through periods where I thought I would never hit another ball, score another run.....it can get tough. But then you will go on an absolute tear.

Will increasing VIS and CLT ratings help with your player being more consistent? My VIS is at 55 and CLT is at 60 (I'm in AAA)

If you are this frustrated with it, learn to play with the zone. I recently traded in my 360 for a PS3 and coming from 2K to The Show just highlighted how much more difficult The Show really is. I'm using zone, and while it may be more difficult and take a while to learn, it pays off in the end because you never have to worry about this problem.

If a pitcher makes a perfect pitch, and the hitter makes a perfect swing, who wins? If it were all about timing, you would almost have a take the ratings away. I made 3 perfect swings with justin verlander in my franchise and struck out. I wasnt mad, he has never had a hit in MLB. (I did foul 1 off).
