The Wind...

Why is there 24 mph wind coming right at home plate in a game in Milwaukee?

You'd think the people creating this game, that strive so much for ''realism'' wouldn't be so incredibly lazy. Yes the wind can have an impact on games, but it seems to either be 0 or in the 20's, and in a domed stadium it's just a joke even if it is a retractible roof.

Re: The Wind...

I think the wind effect is a bit exaggerated in the game... though I cannot say for sure since with the true ball physics some of that may really be coming from solid physics... (which may or may not be the case of course).

What I do like to see with weather is that the game use the real weather patterns actually observed from past seasons. It would be fairly easy to collect game data from past MLB seasons as to how often it actually rained, how many days with wind > 10 MPH and in which direction at Citi in July, etc. The game can randomly draw from those actual data (called bootstrapping in statistics), which should pretty much perfectly replicate weather variation for that particular location and ball park.

You do know you can turn the wind down in the settings, right?

None of the retractable roof stadiums close in game. All are outdoors. (Toronto, Miami, Milwaukee, Arizona, Houston, and Seattle)

The only domed stadiums in the game are Tampa Bay and the Metro dome.

Does anyone really wonder why the devs are "taking a break" O.S. lately?
The question as to "where are they?" has been asked numerous times.
Here is a likely contributing factor(not just this one specifically)....and it's not the first part of the comment...yeah...the wind is overdone IMO as well....it's the second part of the comment.

So because the wind might be overdone......the devs are "incredibly lazy"?
Makes perfect sense.

Hmmm...

Or they can do like NCAA football where they take the live weather from the weather channel. But sometimes I notice that the wind doesn't really have too much of an effect with the carry of the ball.

You can turn the affect of the wind down but not the wind itself. The next game after 24 mph wind coming at the plate it was 19mph blowing to right field and there were 7 homers in the game. Where is that wind coming from? the stands? the giant roof? Makes no sense at all.

I shouldn't have to fiddle with wind settings, the game should make more sense right from the start on default settings.

Re: The Wind...

You can actually turn off the wind effect by setting the Wind slider to zero.
