Re: Player salaries
If it was something to do with the exclusive license, then that should not be an issue this year. Something that should be brought up at community day just in case that was the issue because if it was and we can get real salaries that would be a big improvement.Comment

Re: Player salaries
Right, I know someone's been keeping track of historical contract as well, but those are from "published reports" which often means journalists' best guesses of how real contracts look like. So long as the authenticity of the contracts are in doubt, I'd assume SCEA really doesn't even have to feel that they compromise some confidential info to use in the game?Comment

Re: Player salaries
Well that's true, the official information may be confidential and that may be part of the issue. I think the 2k contracts were closer at least to the published reports. Maybe that is the issue that SECA could use the published reports like 2k has been doing instead of just making it up? I'm pretty sure the published reports are more accurate than just guesses for all most all of the players even the lesser known guys they announce how much they make. I know a lot of the perks like road game suites do not get announced but that doesn't matter too much to the game. I think for the most part we have a pretty good idea how much the players make and team salaries even if MLBPA does not make the information public. It's an interesting issue for sure, I would love to hear from someone at SECA on why they can not use the contracts and if that is the reason if they could just go off the published reports which is what the custom roster makers have to use.Right, I know someone's been keeping track of historical contract as well, but those are from "published reports" which often means journalists' best guesses of how real contracts look like. I believe real contract information does get released due to the fact it is needed to compute luxury tax and revenue sharing. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/salariesComment

Yes, they are official and released for that reason. I'm wondering too if a lack of a exclusive contract would allow at least editing or accurate values in now.I believe real contract information does get released due to the fact it is needed to compute luxury tax and revenue sharing. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/salaries
The other game that had the exclusive contract until now had accurate salaries. It would really add complexity and some sense of signing/trading strategy into franchise. Of course, it would probably require a lot of logic changes on the show's end, so..........I don't care if the salaries aren't exactly correct, just as long as the salaries are somewhat relevant and accurately represent the player's value, or at least their market value.Comment

Are we sure that there isn't an exclusive still? All I have read is its only a one year agreement. Maybe they have the same terms at a discounted fee?Yes, they are official and released for that reason. But I have been asking that salaries are more balanced and not so top heavy. I think they do a good job with the elite players, it's the ones that are B potential and high rated that seem to have salaries that are way too low.Comment

Re: Player salaries
It would be one thing if the salaries were somewhat close, but the salaries are so far off it is one of the bad parts about the game.
Carl Crawford - 2 million in game - 20 million actual
David Ortiz - 2-3 million in game - 15 million actual
Ellsbury - 13.9 million in game - 7-8 million actual
Lackey - 4 million in game - 15 million actual
Pedroia - 15 million in game - 8 million actual
Just a few off the head.Comment
