I also don't pitch. I simulate that half of the inning. "Ain't nobody got time for that !" No, really though, it does make games go by much quicker. That isn't the only reason I simulate pitching, but it's the big one.
Another reason is that it makes it easier for me to focus on being patient at the plate. It keeps me in one gear.
I have a complete method for hitting based on the batter, the count, and even the wind. It's a fairly simple one, but it leads to good choices at the plate, which render a good amount of walks and important base hits. Oddly, nothing about the pitcher matters to me. I approach hitting like Babe Ruth did. "I get back to the dugout and they ask me what it was I hit and I tell them I don't know except it looked good."
