Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
In MLB13 i played my whole season with pulse pitching, but after a lot of practice pitching in MLB13 i felt that i do not get that much outs. I started with meter pitching and get a lot better results with outing batters. Anybody who had this also and started the new season with meter pitching?Tags: None -

I also love the pure analog...I feel like it at least simulates the act of rearing back and firing a pitch and then rotating based on inside or outside pitches.NHL: Rangers

Re: Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
This may be one of the nicest posts I've ever read on an internet gaming forum! Bravo. I applaud you.Originally posted by natey2k4I use the meter or pure analog. Haven't decided yet.
Pulse is my favourite, but my best friend that I play with has a long history with seizures, so I can't use it when I play with him, so I might as well get used to something else.
I wonder what I'd do if Classic Pitching gave my fiance seizures?...

Re: Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
I like pulse but it makes me dizzy so I use meter. I am not one for using the sticks(analog). I really did give analog a good try, it's just not for me. I will always be buttons because also sometimes I go and play the old versions of this game that didn't have analog. So I'd rather all controls be the same for me.Comment

Re: Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
With Pulse Pitching last year, wasn't there a complaint that you could never throw a wild pitch when using that control scheme? Is that still the case?
I've never tried Classic (any pros/cons from the "classic" guys?) in all my years of Show-itude, and I used Pulse a lot last year, but I always fall back to Meter. Maybe's it's just the one I got used to over the years, but I always enjoyed it the most because I don't feel I have to be as uber-focused on the screen (like Pulse Pitching) and can get into a more natural rhythm, if I'm balancing my pitches right and managing my pitch confidence to where I'm having a solid game.
I'm actually happy I read this thread because I completely forgot The Show took a stab at Analog Pitching and I honestly can't remember how it turned out. So I'll have to re-visit that next time.Comment

Now that you mention it I think its still the case. I have thrown plenty of balls in the dirt that got away, but usually on curves intended to be in dirt. In thinking bank I never let a fastball loose that goes over catchers mitt...maybe I should try pulse pitching! With Pulse Pitching last year, wasn't there a complaint that you could never throw a wild pitch when using that control scheme? Re: Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
I started off on Pulse, because I love the new look of the system...
But after playing three games with the Pure Analog, I think I am going to stay there.
My slider set has the Human Pitching Accuracy and Consistency both set to Zero, and I am pitching on Legend, so I am seeing some very nice results as far as balls/strikes ratios, plus a wild pitch from time to time, and when the game is on the line, the level of angst is fun to deal with.
Plus, and I think the biggest bonus, is that you seem to "fool" the CPU batter a lot more with Analog Pitching, as even though you decide the general vicinity of where the pitch is going, you ultimately control it with the release, (how close you hit the yellow line) and the East/West direction.
So you can actually aim the pitch up and in to a right hander, then pull the stick back, let the meter marker fall below the yellow line, and push the stick up in the opposite direction of where you originally aimed.
Sometimes the batter will just freeze, and I am not sure if it is because the game knew where the ball was supposed to go, but knew you missed the spot, but does not know you did it on purpose, and the resulting pitch is actually in the strike zone, even though by all the inputs it ought not be...
Yeah, this is out there, but you have to remember you are trying to trick the CPU batter like you would a human batter, all the while having to input your pitch choice, and location, and execution.... into the computer... which happens to belong to the same AI that you are intending to fool.
I equate it to the catcher setting up on the inside edge, because as a batter you can actually feel the spatial difference behind you, and knowing full well that the pitch is going to actually be thrown on the outside edge.
We called this "Squat and Go". So you didn't fool the umpire, and even with no one on base that might be sending signs in, the catcher would call the fastball, but point towards the opposite side, then scooch over under the batters hands, and I would throw a 2 seamer to the outer black, and midway through the windup, and catcher would keep his feet planted, but slide his butt and back sideways, and frame the pitch for the outer-edge call.
I know this is different, but I do love being in control of how the pitch ends up, be it good or bad, and I love the ability to control the pitch based on the release and the grip...
FWIW, I am playing with No Ball Marker, Feedback on so you can "feel" the edges of the strike zones, Consistency and Accuracy set at Zero, and my only wish would be for a "Analog Meter Skill Slider" so you could make that thing reaaaally touchy once you figured it out. There is a nice disparity between aces and the minor leaguers as far as how touchy it is, so you get better control and feel with the really good pitchers... as it should be.

I enjoy analog the most. I just feel very comfortable when using it, but sometimes I'll use meter.

Re: Pulse pitching or Meter pitching
I like Pulse, but I think I like Meter (my lomgtime favorite) just a bit more. I started out using Pulse (and to the above question, you can definitely throw Wild Pitches this year using Pulse. I've thrown a few already in my limited playtime), and started monkeying around with both Meter and Analog last night (never really used Classic).
Analog definitely takes getting used to. Gotta bear down and concentrate, especially when you're in the stretch (first pitch I threw from the stretch was a curveball, and I hit the batter up near the head. Whoops). I just can't seem to locate my pitches with Analog. Meter is definitely the best for locating IMO, and speed. Seemed like I got an extra 2-3mph out of fastball going into the red than using Pulse (and yes I know it tires your pitcher faster doing that).
I'm gonna be testing more before OSFM comes out, but right now Meter it is.Comment
