This new timing window really messed things up, I'm have never struggled like this before. I was playing 12 until 13's release and I'm struggling on timing hitting. I tried zone in batting practice but it doesn't make much sense to me plus moving the thing around is hard lol. Please SCEA please change it back to last year version.Comment

Re: zone hitting and reflexes
I have always played zone and I don't have a ton of luck moving and hitting either.
I tend to move my left stick to a location before the pitch and try to connect if the ball comes into that zone.
When i'm playing cpu i tend to drop down to contact swing with 2 strikes and just sit in the middle. I usually can fight a few foul ball strikes and take a few balls until the count is back to a more manageable 3-2.
This probably wouldn't work as well vs another player...unless you get to know their pitching habits.
Again i'm not a very good hitter and probably should trying timing

Anticipate based on the situation. If a pitcher is looking to induce a ground ball, keep the pci lower to get a more solid liner. If you feel the pitch may be up. Heep the pci up. If you a ahead in the count if you dont ger the zone you are looking for, take it. Even if it is a strike.Comment

While i do think your advice is on point it is the reason that i choose not to use zone..if that makes sense.Anticipate based on the situation. If like you say expect a pitch up move the PCI up...problem is that anything thrown high out of the strike zone i am swinging at because i have the PCI up there, same thing with your low comment if i place it low i will swing at anything low even if it is a curve in the dirt.
I just can't distinguish balls and strikes while positioning the PCI off centre....so thankfully there is Timing hitting..

You can't use timing online though. While i do think your advice is on point it is the reason that i choose not to use zone..if that makes sense.

I used to be in the same boat, until this year.
I pretty much just went to practice mode and did good-at bat training against justin verlander. Then I started playing the challenge of the week. It's actually very good practice for learning to move the pci on reaction and laying off pitches at the same time.
It's so much more rewarding to play this way. When you crush something, it feels like you are responsible for it. Especially at higher difficulties.Comment

Re: zone hitting and reflexes
It's always good to anticipate. I always keep my PCI in the middle. Slightly down or slightly up in the zone depending on tendency the pitcher. When the pitch is thrown, I immediately adjust to where the pitch is going. I Never chase pitches in the corners unless you have to on two strikes. Most of the time you'll induce a weakly hit balls if you chase those pitches.
Most people like to keep their PCI down the zone at the start of the pitch. Which is sometimes okay but They can miss a ball that is right down the middle of the plate and pop it up. So keeping it in the middle is the best way to go And adjusting accordingly.Comment

It's very hard to use Zone hitting in higher difficulties, because not only the CPU will pitch you harder and make you chase but also the PCI gets smaller..."It Makes Sense If You Don't Think About it"

I wouldnt even want to try timing just because the leagues here at os doesnt allow timing.im trying to see if i do better without the pci or with the pci.Comment

Totally agree,i hate zone this year. usually in the past i will use the guess feature. I wouldnt guess the pitch,i will just guess the location. if i guess right i swing if not i didnt swing.Comment
