Hard Freezes Continue to Plague me in '13...

'13 has frozen on me more times than I can count. It's getting to the point where it's hard for me to invest any time in the game because I'm worried that at any point the game will freeze. I was hoping that the patch would correct this, but I've had a freeze in each game since. The 1st, I completely finished the game and wanted to try out the movie maker and put some highlights together when it froze while doing that. The 2nd freeze came in the 5th inning of the next game. Every freeze I've had is during an actual game except for the one in the movie maker. I'm not sure what to do anymore cause I really love the game (it's my favorite release every year like most of you guys), but it's getting to the point where it's unplayable.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? I have the digital download version and the PS3 is a brand new 500 GB super slim that I got 3 days before '13 released. These are all Offline and in Franchise mode.

I've seen mention on different places around here and the rest of the Internet about deleting the 10 GB install. I've looked around and can't find it. Where can I find that to delete it and re-install it?

Go to your XMB on your ps3. (before starting MLB 13).
Then go to game (section where you can view saved games, and run games from).
Select game data

Delete mlb 13 game data

Correct wording might be ought.

Installed the patch yesterday and after I experimented something I never had before ('13 and '12) where game froze 3 times. Not during gameplay but while browsing in roster control.

Most of your crash happening during gameplay?

Yea, every single one of them except for the one in the post game movie maker. If I had to guess, it's around 20 freezes now.

I was playing last night and all of a sudden my PS3's fan got super loud and the PS3 just shut off in the middle of playing MLB 13 The Show downloaded version. MLB 13 The Show did not crash on me before installing the just released Patch.

For a few seconds I thought my PS3 died. But luckily it powered back on and everything seems fine.

I hope this is not going to be a problem all year!

Did you get the digital version? If you did then there is no 10GB game data. The 10GB game data is included in your download. The additional content is found in your game data utilty folder and that is not the 10GB install you are referring to. If you have the digital version of the game then you can see that the game (found in the game portion of your XMB) is about 22gb big. You can see this by highlighting the game, hitting triangle I think and click on "information" . I have the digital version as well and havent had any freeze issues. May want to try and reinstall the game but that may take a while since you will porlly have to re download the game again.

Yeah. Not sure if that would help or not but if the game is unplayable, I will think it is worth it. Maybe you can try restoring your file system (like a PC, there may be some corrupted files on your ps3) or rebuilding your database on the PS3: https://support.us.playstation.com/a...a_id/1488/#use

Yeah, I'm having the same problems too. When ever I enter Diamond Dynasty, and choose my starting pitcher, the game freezes right there and I have to hard reboot. It's happened in game a couple of times as well. Anyone else having this problem?

Yea I had thought about rebuilding the database, but since it was a new system I figured it wouldn't help. I might as well try that 1st.

I haven't played DD or any other of the online aspects of the game so I'm not sure. I know there was another thread directly commenting on just online freezes.

Just a little update on this in case anyone has followed it..

Rebuilding the Database didn't work. So I deleted the Game and I'm currently re-downloading it hopes of alleviating this issue. I'll re-post with results.

I tried this and it did not work unfortunately. I have been having the exact same issues as you with the digital download. I spend an hour doing free agency in franchise, forget to save of course, and play a game which will then freeze on me. It is a pain downloading the entire game again, but I might have to try and completely wipe my ps3.

I am not sure what else to do, it is somewhat good to know that it is happening to other people as I thought maybe my PS3 was on the fritz, but I have faith in SCEA that they will be able to track down and fix this problem. I love this game but it sucks that I cannot really play it right now. I wish I knew someone with the disc version to test it on my PS3 to try and narrow down the issue and whether it is a digital download issue or just the game in general with some ps3's.
