MLB 13 or MLB 12?

I'm on the fence with this game now that Opening Day is approaching and I'm ready for some baseball. I picked back up MLB 12 around Black Friday for $15 and figured I could just get some updated rosters...

Do you all suggest I just roll with MLB 12 or pick up MLB 13? Is there a huge difference??

Three days ago that might have been tough to answer, but after the patch, 13 is the superior game without a doubt.

Can't go wrong with either really, as both are great games.


With that said however if you have the cash get 13.

This question is asked way too much on this forum.

If you like baseball, you can probably stick with 12 with the roster update until the price comes down on 13, then pick that one up.

If you love baseball, you wouldn't even be asking this question and would already be playing the better game, which is 13.

Better fielding "physics" (or whatever you'd call that)
Revamped Franchise mode
greatly Improved RTTS mode
Improved batter-pitcher stuff, improved timing window, etc...

It's really up to you. Bobhead laid out the reasons why 13 is improved over 12, but I'll add two more:

Postseason Mode
MLB Live (like MLB Today from 2K but you have the ability to go back and play any game on the current schedule)

MLB 12 is a great game and you'd be fine sticking with that for another year if you so desired. MLB 13 has improved upon 12 in a variety of ways, though, so if you really like baseball, 13 would be the way to go.

And to go along with what everyone else has said, if you want the correct division alignment (Astros in the AL), correct playoff format (wild-card game) and full-time interleague, you'll want MLB 13.

If you use guess pitch stick to 12. It's pretty much worthless in 13.

i like:
the variation of hits (more bloops and such)
the base stealing -- much easier to steal/hit and run
fielding/throwing - errors feel more random, throw meter is decent addition

whether that is worth 60 bucks is up to you

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you want gameplay improvement in realism department (ball physics, more organic AI plays), MLB 13 is significantly better than 12 IMO.

But if I've seen some people not particularly happy with the (stale) presentation... so if you just want fresher feel in commentary and presentation, the upgrade might not be worth it (although personally I feel it is still an upgrade).

I'm glad it hasn't affected you but there is a pretty large thread on here of people upset about the changes to GP. He may want to check out that thread to see if he will be affected by the change.
