    Qualified Free Agents

Hey, I've noticed that in franchise mode, in the offseason, on the first day of free agency there are tons of free agents that have 'qualified' under there status. I understand the this means that you have to give up a draft pick in order to sign them. But there are players that are rated in the 50's and 60's that are said to be qualified. Does this mean that their team had offered them the 8.1m/1yr (or whatever the number is) to get a draft pick back if the sign elsewhere? Just seems strange that players rated so low are listed as qualified.

Any answers or help would be great,
    Thanks

    Re: Qualified Free Agents

They are qualified because they stayed with the same team the entire year before becoming a free agent. That doesn't mean they were actually given a qualifying offer from their team though. I don't know why we aren't shown if they had actually received a qualifying offer or not. I guess that's the chance you have to take when signing free agents. I've noticed that usually a player that's asking for more or equal to what the qualifying offer is (predetermined before the off season of course) he's probably received a qualifying offer from his former team.
    T.K.

      Re: Qualified Free Agents

If I see a qualified player in FA, I look to see if they have an offer from their original team of any substance. If so, I avoid. Most the time they don't actually end up being offered. I have yet to be burned from this method but maybe that is just dumb luck.
