    Placed On Optional Waiver: Why?

Ok, so I had been playing MLB The Show 13 Spring games. I end spring training today and I'm the Royals. For some reason it is placing Mendoza on optional waivers. I have no idea why this is happening. It is all set to manual. Why or what is placing him on the optional waivers?

I also noticed it did it for some other player... Rapada maybe?

Anyway, any insight on this is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

It's because he is out of options. If you have a guy on the 40 man roster and send him down to the minors, it uses one of his options.

1 option is good for 1 year, so if send a guy down that still has one, you can call him up and down as many times as you want in a year.

The problem is that your guy has been sent down more than what is allowed. He now will need to clear waivers in order to be sent down to the minors.

what can I do if I don't want him sent down? I want him to be a starter... like he is in real life. I tried making him one before ending spring training, but that didn't help. Guess I will just have to wait for the 3 days for it to clear?

      Thanks,
      Doug

I think the issue here is that you "ended" spring training, which makes the CPU take over roster moves if you don't have the roster trimmed down to 25 before you do it.

You can just sim through the last game of spring, set your roster, then advance to the regular season...or set your roster earlier and hit end spring training.

MoleDude... that worked... thank you! I went back to a save just before the end of spring training and slimmed down to 25 players. Now I was able to keep mendoza in the starting rotation. I'm sure all the other teams are probably all kinds of screwed up, but I simply don't have time to make them all right this year. Hopefully they aren't too ridiculous on the other teams.

          Thanks a ton!
