    How To Hit Homers

    Hey all,
What is everyone's trick to hitting more homers?

Do you find you hit more by just swinging for contact?... Or swinging for Power?

Do you guess location and wait for your pitch?
Do you not guess location at all in fear it might hinder your contact if it is not in the location you guessed?

What about influencing a fly ball by using the right stick before the pitch?

I'm just curious because I can get plenty of hits, but I'd like to see more doubles and homers.

I almost wonder if I should be swinging for power every time. However I get homers when I don't expect them with just contact... I just don't get that many.

    Thanks,
    Doug

HR are basically only way i score it seems. Look for the ball Up in the zone. If you hit balls in low zone alot more groundballs. Up in the zone you get alot more fly balls

Contact swing is more than adequate. I find there are very few positions I feel I should swing for power. If I am playing against a LHP for instance who throws the flattest, easiest to read pitches and I am ahead in the count, and the game with Ryan Braun hitting I will swing for power.

Power Swing is how most of mine come. You just have to know when to use what, and what to look for. It also probably depends on what hitting controls you use.

USE THE RIGHT STICK MAN! How has no one mentioned this yet? You influence a fly ball by pushing up on the right stick while holding R2 (in guess-pitch mode).

I use analog If the player has high Power like say like Jay Bruce I hit Square for power, but someone like Votto I hit nothing, or X if I hit Square by mistake. To me it seems like I hit about the same amount either way. but like someone said its fastballs up in the zone that you have to jump on to really hit Home Runs

I use zone timing and I feel like there are way too many home runs already. I hit 2 basically every game and that's pretty much the only way I score. I don't really use contact/power, just the X button.

same here. I play with Cubs and i hit 2 HR with Castillo who has like 43 power against RHP and i hit one with Lillibridge who sucks against RHP also. I won 5-3 with all runs being HR

Ditto... I'm also a Zone player with too many homeruns. I've made adjustments though, no big deal.

Every now and then look for a pitcher trying to sneak a first pitch change-up inside. Even with a contact swing you can hit it 10 rows deep.

                        Re: How To Hit Homers

Well, I tried guessing high and waiting for those and I still didn't hit homers. It makes sense and is true to life, so I thought I would try it. Ended up worse... no homers and only 5 hits. I found my self even swinging at low pitches. I have a very hard time telling the height of a pitch. Especially low ones. I will think it is at the knees, but it ends up hitting the dirt before getting to plate.... just looked like a regular knee height pitch to me.

I might just go back to guess low and waiting for the low ones. At least then I got hits. I will just have to do without homers until I figure something else out.

                        Thanks!

Yeah, HR are the only way I score mostly too. I don't do anything special, I use Pure Analog and wait for the perfect pitch and hit it with perfect timing. This is my first year playing this game, I don't even know how to power swing or contact swing with Analog, I just pull back and swing.

Anyone know if the buttons are pressure sensitive on The Show? The only reason I ask, and I know it sounds strange, but I seem to hit the ball a lot harder and farther when I press the X button with LESS force. It seems when I'm button mashing, I hit a ton of choppers, dribblers, and pop ups. Being an ex-ballplayer, I know that some of the balls I hit for HRs were on swings that I felt I was just trying to make solid contact and not necessarily trying to destroy the ball...

I dunno, just throwing a thought out there.

                              Cheers!
