    MLB 14 Wishlist: General Gameplay?

I'm doing things a little differently this year. Instead of the pros vs. cons method we have used in the past this year it's much simpler.

For every area or game mode we are simply going to ask if you could pick two features, additions, or tweaks what would they be. The kicker is you can only choose two not three and a half not four. If you put more than two in your post would a mod please delete that post altogether.

The thinking behind this is quite simple, only letting you choose two things pretty much means your going to think long and hard about your choices.

What's general gameplay you ask? It's anything that has to do with pitching, hitting, and fielding. In game stuff. Not game modes, not front end, not diamond dynasty, not RTTS, not the roster vault, not franchise mode etc...........

So have at it and time is of the essence so each thread will only stay open for a weeks tops if that long. Just copy, paste, and follow the template below.

MLB 14 Wishlist: General Gameplay if you could have any feature, addition, tweak what would it be? Remember you can only choose two.

    1.

    2.

Mods if the template is not followed please delete the posts thx.

Russell, quick question, is this for PS4?

Edit: only reason I ask is to know if the possibilities will be endless with the amount of space you'll have to work with

No comment, but if you want to answer as if it is for the PS4 go right ahead.

          1. Catch button in RTTS makes fielder raise his glove to a catch ready position. It doesn't actually have to trigger the catch animation but the catch animation wouldn't happen without it. if you hold the button while chasing the ball, the fielder would move slower. Giving you the risk/reward of holding the button too soon/late.

          2. More dynamic color areas with button accuracy throwing ex. Green area big for a flip and small for outfield and long infield throws.

            1. Ability to Search for players by name in game and in the vault.

            2. Ability to add CAPs or RTTS players from previous year.

            Thank You!

Your reponses are not gameplay related. Pitching, hitting, and fielding is general gamplay. Both of the things you mentioned are Front End features. There will be a separate thread for every area of the game. But this thread is for general gamplay pitching, hitting, and fielding. Please read the original post.

              1. Variable weather (rainouts, rain delays, etc)

              2. Non-roster invites for spring training

                1. Analog pitching: further develop the mechanic to reflect a pitcher's strengths and weakness. The meter is the same for all pitchers and lacks personality. Also have the ability to have the 2 player setup for single player use.

                2. Have the CPU fielders adjust defensively based on a hitter's push pull tendency.

                  1. I would like to see more options when throwing as a fielder. Meaning a toss, a rocket across the diamond if needed, or a risky throw option like it u want to throw off your knees to nail a guy.

                  2. Also during game play I'd like to see a feature added that you can send your catcher out for a mound visit rather than just the pitching coach.

                    1. Pitching/Baserunning: Give us on-screen, visual cues for when someone is attempting to steal a base (or an alert/noise). If I'm pitching with analog or meter, my eyes are on that, and I tend to not notice that someone is stealing, since the announcers do not always say something about it (or their comment is lagging behind another comment). Or maybe I just don't want to listen to the commentary at all. I shouldn't have to rely on commentary for this type of thing.

                    2. Fielding: Give us an option to disable the analog stick dive/catch controls. As an Analog Pitching user, I have problems where I don't take my thumb off the stick quickly enough, after pitching... the result is my fielder immediately jumps when I gain control of him.

                      1. Pitchers getting hurt when a ball hits them. Whether it be for the inning, the game, multiple games or the season if it's bad enough...or nothing at all. Shouldn't always be something that happens to them but if they take a line drive off their noggin' they should be affected on some level.

                      2. Same with hitters although it may already be in the game and I just haven't seen it yet. Allow a hit batter to have a broken something if hit right. Maybe miss a game or two or a week or a month or so depending on the injury.

Both of those would need to be carefully implemented or you would have a full team on the DL before you know it, but some injuries from time to time wouldn't be horrible.

Gameplay is just about perfect so this is tough lol

                        1.
                        reworked pitch trajectories

                        2.
I still want to see harder hit balls, there is an OSD that pops up that makes a big deal about a player hitting a ball ~100 MPH when that isn't really a big deal at all (the average HR has an exit speed of ~100 MPH), solid liners should be 110+ MPH all the way up to 120 MPH.

                          1. More Slider Trajectories: 20-30 degrees and 40-50 degree sliders trajectories added and keep the current slider making it 3 total sliders to choose from.

                          2. More Changeup and Splitter Trajectories: add some with 10-20 degrees of tailing movement.

                            1. Fix everything about balls hit back at the pitcher. This includes how often it occurs as well as adding a chance of them being injured by it.

                            2. Give us a way to dispute the umpires calls. Let us decide how aggressively we want to argue it and give each umpire a personality that determines the outcome of it.

                              1) Man on second base, single to the outfield. I would like to see the player who singled attempt to take second base on a throw to the plate (some of the time). When fielding, there is no risk for making a play at home, because you know the player who singled will not take an extra base. These are the computer controlled runners of course.

                              2) Fielders need to do a better job of backing each other up. Example; pop up behind third base. Only one player (3b) moves into position to catch ball. The other two fielders (SS and LF) stand with their hands in their pockets and watch from a good distance away. Normally the LF would take anything he can get to, and would call the 3B off. Another example is a foul pop down the third base line. Only the one player goes after it. If the catcher goes for it, the third baseman will never move toward it.
