What's this mean

I have searched and can't find the answer to this...when playing (MLB 13) between innings, there's a number that shows up in the lower right corner of the screen...something like xp160 or similar. Can anyone tell me what that is?

That is for your universal profile. If you are at the main menu of the game, you can hit the select button and you can highlight the "home plate shape" in the lower left corner of the screen and hit X to see your total. It keeps track of what you play.

The points seemed to be used for some sort of player ranking system. Really doesn't mean much unless you care.

It doesnt mean as much this year as it will in future games.
You will be able to see your progress throughout multiple iterations.

But as you said, it really doesn't mean much unless you care.
