    See this is why...

...you should never use your favorite team in Franchise Mode. I'm in my Angels franchise and the Cards just offered me Kolten Wong ( 22yrs 80ovr A potential), Matt Carpenter (27yrs 78ovr B potential) and Carlos Martinez (21yrs 78ovr A potential) for Howie Kendrick. Seems like a pretty great trade for me. I get a good, very young 2b of the future in Wong and a possible stud SP in Martinez. He's even good enough to start right away since I dumped Blanton. But I don't know if I can do it.... I like Howie. I don't think it's something the Halos would do in real life and I feel a little guilty about cutting him loose.

Haha... I feel a little ridiculous for not wanting to complete this trade mainly because I like the real Howie!

Yeah, they really shouldn't be giving you anything more than 2 Low B prospects for Howie. 2 A's and a B is definitely too much.

I see what you're saying though. My favorite team is the White Sox and I always have to face the ultimatum of keeping Paul Konerko or flipping him while he's still valuable. He's 37 and in the last year of his contract so it only makes complete sense, but he's our captain, played mostly his whole career here, and led us to a world series so it almost always puts me at a stalemate where I can't continue because either way I lose. Either I have to give up Pauly or I lose value.

I'm with you, but that's definitely way too much for Howie! If the Halo's didn't do that they'd be crazy! I hear ya though, I've been through multiple situations in my Braves franchise this year and I can just never pull the trigger!

You just have to determine your one to three untouchable players.

          And go from there.

Yeah I was a little surprised to get that much for Howie. It seems like when I'm offered trades they're either no-brainers or insults (2 mid-70s C potential relievers for Pujols). I usually ignore them either way but I reeeally need some young pitching...

all cpu logic in franchise is flawed. I wanted Joc Pederson to develop him so I offered the dodgers Jason Heyward for Pederson Lee and someone else. Now they took it of course, but heres the flaw: 2 days later they place Heyward on waivers, on one claims him and he is now playing in AAA while Ethier is the starting RF at 78 ovr and heyward is a 91 ovr. I dont have time for 30 team control and we shouldnt have to control everything. I dont expect perfection, but there needs to be at least some semblance of realism when it comes to roster management.

I'm in the same bind in my franchise with the Red Sox...
I feel this year is tougher than other because of all the veteran players they signed along with all the young talent near-MLB ready...
Im towards the end of year one and with 2014 nearing I have Webster, De La Rosa, Bradley Jr, Brentz, Wilson, Bard, among others who could really help at the major league level...
But what do I do with Lackey, Dempster, Victorino, Gomes, Ortiz(who is declining terrible fast but still hitting for power... only), Hanrahan, Uehara, etc...
I feel, like you said, guilty if I just drop them in a trade to a random team, but then again I want to play with other players... in my case my future!
I'll have to pick and choose... right now I plan on getting rid of Lackey, Hanrahan (w/Bailey closing), Uehara (age), and maaaaybe Victorino but he's just so valuable... we'll see how 2014 pans out...

Depends if they really need starting pitching @mlb level you do this like offer a little more than market value to make the trigger on the other end pull. Maybe a guy or two went out for extended time. Not saying that's the case here but possible explaination.

Plus you'd be surprised at some of the deals IRL that in hindsight, hell even in foresight that get made cause one team or the other over-values a guy. Look back at some of the deals GMs have made in the past, hell I'll give ya one for free, can anyone name any of the three (I believe it was three might have only been two it escapes me right now) that Babe was traded for. Hell I only want you to name one.

Wicked arsed trades happen almost every year we usually just forget that someone actually traded a bucket of balls for that later hall o famer or allstar guy.

My favorite team is the Mets so I don't have this problem.

The way I see it, this is my 40 man roster right now:
                    1. David Wright

Not to tell ya how to run your chise but I think that history tells us two things the faster you can get your quality youth to the show the better off you are especially in pitching. And secondly if you can do it in groups with a few core vets to show the youngster how things are done the better off you are.

As a yankee fan in my first off-season.... Can't see Jeter waste away as a free agent. Signed him for 2 year 400k deal.

But then again I traded Arod in July to the Cards for Kyle Seager and Carlos Beltran. Beltran in the last year of contract, so more cap space! Might have to take a Red Sox... Jacoby is on the market.

He is a beast in-game but I haven't warmed up to his real-life self yet. He needs to fix his swing, its a mess.
