MLB 09....how to play?

Stupid question.....but I picked up MLB 09 and it seems like a fairly cool game. Only problem is that I have almost no idea how to play. I have a very basic understand of baseball, would like to learn more through this game of course.

Are there any vids on helping me get started? The rules/settings look completely unrecognizable. I love NHL, FIFA, Rugby, NBA, and even Cricket sports games so I'm sure I'll enjoy this but would appreciate any tips on what to do when starting up. Thanks

Check this out. If you don't know how to play at all you could do a Google search that will tell you what buttons do what when. If your question is how to set the game up then check this thread out on MLB The Show 09.

Well read the control manual definitely. Play a ton of exhibition games on easier difficulties and work your way up. Try to be patient at the plate and generate favorable hitters counts. When pitching mixing up your spots and changing speeds will help. Dont get into some sort of pattern or the batters will pick it up. Thats basic knowledge to success in baseball. Would take a long time to explain the game completely.
