Am I the only one who is struggling hitting this year?

Well, mostly only on the inner part of the plate and pitches up in the strike zone... it seems I'm always late or I just get completely blown away by even Barry Zito-esque fastballs in those zones. Lol.

I play on All-Star with default sliders and my pitch speed set to one, and it still seems to be darn-near impossible to hit those darn inside and pitches up in the zone. Lol.

    Maybe it's just me...? Hahaha.

You're not the only one. I had a CPU pitcher (right handed) keep throwing fastballs up and inside to left handed batters. SO, I started using guess pitch to set the pitch type and location. What did I get? The same result. Pitch just blowing by me. I adjusted my timing to swing a little early. Didn't work. Tried swinging later. Didn't work.

Honestly I thought it was just cause I was playing on Legend difficulty hitting and just sucking at hitting. Guess that's not the case. If you find a solution, please share (as will I).

The only reason I have been struggling to hit is because I use Timing hitting and my PCI is in a completely wrong spot 90% of the time, regardless of how good my timing is.

That PCI is tricky sometimes. I always have a tendency to move my PCI down in the zone when I'm surprised by a pitches speed, or even when I'm not. It took 20-30 games of trying to break that habit. Sometimes I get into bad habits, and will revert back to lowering my PCI in the zone as the pitch is coming in. For me, it had to do with the way I was going about reacting to pitches. Instead of one motion of movement and swing, I was looking for the pitch location and then TRYING to react to it, instead of it being one motion of PCI movement and swinging. I almost always take the first pitch of an at bad to time the pitcher and his delivery. The more I've hit, the more I've realized that not using pitch guess, but just looking for the ball in a certain location and being ready to move the PCI to that general direction helps, but even then the occasional fastball will get by me. A lot of times I struggle with pitches right down the heart of the plate, because I'm just so used to moving the PCI on every pitch. I'm HOF with my hitting sliders at default and the pitcher's control, strike percentage and consistency lowered a notch or two. I'm leading the league in nearly all offensive categories a month in... so much so that I'm trying to figure out a way to even the playing field a little bit.

What camera are you using? Maybe it's an issue picking up the ball?

I'm batting .255 which is by far the best BA I've ever had in The Show (and on HoF to boot). So I wouldn't say "struggling," but I find hitting this year to be more unenjoyable than it's been in the last few years.

Im streaky, some games I get 17 hits and others I only manage 5. I feel its fair as this happens to every team.

im struggling also that why i stop using sliders. because people set sliders up to adjust the game because its easy to them so i went back a level.im playing default on ventran and im doing ok. still swinging at balls but getting better.using timing and guess pitch and location.i hate zone because i cant move the pci for ****.

I'm struggling as well. So today, I fired up a game in MLB 12 and I gotta say hitting felt much better in last year's version to be honest, once you get the hang of it, I got a couple of perfect timings right away.

I'm the opposite, I find hitting a lot easier in this years game, I've always had to hit on veteran in previous years but this year I've moved up to HoF and I'm still hitting over .300...

Haha I wish I could but I'm not sure how, I use zone hitting and I look for pitches in the upper part of the zone, I try (try being the operative word) to lay off pitches I the bottom third of the zone because I have a terrible habit of chasing low change ups and curves (some even bounce in the dirt and I'll still chase) until I have 2 strikes then I'll use contact swings only... I've also given away using guess pitch as I think this also affected my hitting... That's about all I've noticeably changed about my approach though...

EDIT: I also find if I'm really struggling to lay off balls or timing or just struggling to get hits I'll always wait until I see a strike before swinging, it usually gives me a look at a pitchers motion and release point to help for the rest of the at bat...

Yeah to be a consistently good hitter on this game you have to ditch guess pitch and just put in the work.

I know alot of people worry about trying to recognize pitches like how am I going to figure out its a curve and still have time to swing. But you don't do that, honestly I don't try to figure out what the pitch is and the only timemy brain even realizes what it is is after I've hit it or watched it.

I know it sounds cliche but it's because it's true, see the ball hit the ball.

I found the hitting MLB 13 the show easier than MLB 12 the show, but I had pretty good success with the hitting in MLB 12 the show.

I've heard that the Vision stat is useless. Some combination of me upping my vision stat and also becoming more patient at the plate led to my turnaround with my RTTS CF. I ended up hitting about .200 when i started, and now am near .300 simply by not using guess pitch and taking a few pitches every time. I use Timing batting too, but to each their own. I'm trying to have fun!
