The Scheduling Glitch is actually a GOOD thing!

I've heard there is a glitch in Franchise Scheduling where the same divisions play each other year after year..
If so, I have to say I like that.
I'm not an Interleague fan at all. Call me Old School.
The main reason is that Interleague has killed the mystery of the World Series.
When I was a boy, I remember The Reds playing in the 75 World Series.. All you heard about was Luis Tiant and the Green Monster.
We'd never played at Fenway. It messed with our heads. And we'd never seen Tiant's Herky Jerky Windup and Delivery. It was all brand new to us.
It was like "Who are these guys?"
In 72, Could Campaneris steal on Bench? The WILD Oakland Uniforms, the facial hair... We knew NOTHING about the A's leading into that Series except they had this pitcher named Vida Blue.
But now.. If you only see the same five teams every year, that means there's ten teams you won't see.
So in the end, just by accident, I kinda get 2/3s of what I want. Imagine getting to the Series, and FINALLY getting to play at Fenway or Yankee Stadium for the first and only time. It makes it special.
I know it's not accurate, but it works for me. Besides, it also works for Divisional Races balance.

I don't like interleague either. Nor do I like the DH rule (remember when pitchers could actually hit?). The "closer" designation is so stupid. If I have an awesome lefty reliever in the 'pen and the other guys have three lefties coming up in a one run game in the ninth, sorry but I'm putting in that lefty even though he isn't the "closer". Stupid "position". Pitch and inning ceilings (wow).

Even though I'm 30 and only got to partially witness it, man do I miss old school baseball. Everything's becoming so robotic and generic now (in all sports really, look at hockey every single team plays the same boring dump and chase). Wish I could've witnessed the MLB from the '20s through '70s. Ok I'm done ranting now.

I have a hard time believing you'd know nothing about a team from the other league, in this day and age. Given the ease of watching games every day and not just on Saturdays like back in the day. The internet, fantasy leagues, etc. I guess I'm biased since, as a Brewers fan, I've been able to see both leagues in person over the years. I wish they'd fix the glitch, since inter-league scheduling is a part of our reality now. I'd like it to be somewhat accurate.

Agreed. I hope the interleague schedule rotates properly in MLB 14. If you're going to have interleague play (it's here to stay) then every team should play every team within a three-year period, just like real life.

And you're right that it's impossible not to know anything about the other league in this day and age. Every game is available on TV, highlights of every game are on all the time. You will see every player, every stadium.

It's a far cry from the old days (1970s and before), when there were only a max of 2 national games per week, usually showing only the better teams. So if you lived in an AL city, you could go a whole year without seeing some NL teams. That's what made the All-Star game so great, you'd see players you'd never seen play before.

        Those days are long gone.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

Would be great if they let you customize the league in this game: number of divisions, number of teams per division, number of teams in the league overall, number of games played in a season, number of games played versus other division including inter league, and so on and so forth.

In Reality, you're absolutely correct. Even in the game, I can play any game I want from the schedule.
I guess what I'd hope for would be the ability to toggle off Interleague play and the DH. On most PC games, you have these options. Hopefully PS4 will have the same capability.
All I was saying is that unintentionally, the glitch has given me half of what I wanted, it's not perfect, but in this case, half is better than none.
And BTW, I went years without knowing what the Seattle Pilots and Texas/Washington Rangers looked like. Baseball cards used to just blot out the new logos and only gave close-ups

Ive never understood why, other than blind adhearance to tradition, that anyone would be opposed to interleague play. Why wouldnt you want to see your team play against every other club, in every other stadium? The whole "mystery of the World Series" is bunk. Most teams never play in the WS, let alone often enough to play against different clubs from the other league.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

I've never understood why people who are seemingly too young to have witnessed a league with anything OTHER than interleague play comment about people preferring a league with anything OTHER than interleague play

Oh I know... I'm apparently the only guy on OS that hates the DH. I refuse to use it.

                        I don't like it either.
I don't hate it as long as it remains in that pansy *** Junior Circuit(surprised they don't have designated runners for your slowest player yet)
Just keep it out of the Senior Circuit where managing your club actually matters a bit.

                          FYI You are not alone.

I didn't this year, but I have been known to go "No DH" in both leagues with The Show in past seasons.

Both The DH and Interleague Play are nothing but a Money Grabbing Scam.
Somebody found out that TV Ratings went up when the Yankees played the Mets back around 15 years ago. Or scoring ten runs a game was the norm.
This is because Baseball Revenue was at a all time low following the Strike of 94.And 1972 if you remember.
So they scammed us with Steroids. Mark Mc Guire, Barry Bonds, and Sammy Sosa were fakes..phony..And some bought it hook line and sinker.
They scammed us with the DH, You really think David Ortiz is a great Baseball player?
They Scam us with Interleague Play.. Marlins/Twins anyone?
They are telling us a lie when they claim the Brewers belong in the NL.
And they're lying to us by trying to pass the Astros to the AL.
If it was really about preserving the Integrity of the game, the Brewers would have been sent back to the AL, not the Astros.
And I feel sorry for this younger generation who knows nothing about the word Integrity. See, I come from a time when not everything could be had for a price.
                            When Integrity had meaning.
And there's no sport in America where tradition and Integrity means more than Baseball.
And these kids are so OWNED, it's pathetic..Just Pathetic.
