Will digital version of MLB 14 be playable without internet
I am thinking about buying the digital download version of mlb 14 and was wondering if it would be playable without internet access which would be without being signed into psn. I would download the game onto my system at a friends that has internet but I don't have internet at home. I have never bought any full version ps3 digital download games but I thought I remember hearing that you have to be signed into psn to be able to play the game.Last edited by beecravey7; 03-29-2014, 01:51 PM.Tags: None -
Re: Will digital version of MLB 14 be playable without internet
I have 3 Ps3's and you can only have 2 linked at a time. Most of the time I have the bedroom PS3 unlinked, which happens to be the one with the second copy of the Show on it.
It will not let me play it unless I have that PS3 linked, so there must be some internet check.Comment

Re: Will digital version of MLB 14 be playable without internet
That has nothing to do with him using Internet to play the game though.
He is downloading a game using someone else's Internet . As long as the game is on his ps3 I don't see him needing Internet to play the game on his system.
Unless I'm misunderstanding his statement

That's what I'm saying I have the game already downloaded on my system. It won't let me play unless it is linked so must be some type of Internet check. That has nothing to do with him using Internet to play the game though.

Guys. Non-internet expert here.
Many of you know I DO NOT have internet at home.
I download games all the time over at my parent's house and play them all back at home offline.
TWD. TWAU. Journey. Brothers. Etc. Etc.
All downloaded and played offline.Comment

Internet check and PS3 link are not entirely the same thing. It's in place to make sure you aren't game sharing, if you are, you can only share it among X amount of PS3's at the same time. Could even share DLC as long as you had them downloaded and kept the DLC's master account, least this is how it worked with MW2 and Blops 1. :PLast edited by zomgerd; 03-29-2014, 05:38 PM.Comment

if such an issue why not just buy a physical copy, you know the way before internet existed???Comment

Blops1.
Now the official most adorable FPS nickname of all-time.
But yes, the way you described it seems right. I actually called Sony once on this and they told me I'd only lose the content if my system had been deactivated and gone back online where the registration checks happen.
They told me they can't obviously check licensing when a system is offline.
Long story short, the OP is fine. Nothing to worry about man.Comment

I'm gonna just go ahead and assume you live in a large-ish city Hustlin. So let me break this down.
Perhaps his closest gaming retailer is 15 miles away.
Perhaps even further, with the recession and all.
Or maybe it's something else. Who knows? I just don't get a question like this man. Everyone's circumstances are just too different to judge.
I don't mean any hate here, my friend (and I know you know that). Just pointing out what could be the other side of the coin.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 03-29-2014, 05:56 PM.Comment

With a digital order you are licensed to have two copies. Only can play one at a time.

Re: Will digital version of MLB 14 be playable without internet
Thanks for the replies. The reason for buying the digital copy is to save wear on my ps3. I figure if it is a game that I'm likely to keep and not try to re-sell used then I should get the digital version. It will save wear on the ps3 and I won't have to switch discs when I want to play mlb. Not significant reasons but I only play my games on my ps3 anyway.Comment
