You just tap R2, it will vibrate. And as very instances the pitcher twitches, your guy takes off for 2nd. I figured this out during my base-stealing training, and I haven't been caught stealing since.

Perfect steal, every time
Maybe this is something that has always been in the game and I am late to discovering it, but there seems to be a glitch of sorts that allows for a perfectly timed steal, every single time. Pretty much the ONLY way you can get caught stealing is to be picked off, but since it's a perfect jump, you don't have to take any lead off steps, so they rarely throw over.

So this doesn't bother anyone else? Alrighty then, I guess I'll just steal my 200 bases a year with 100% success and pretend like it's not broken. -

File a report in the Bugs/Glitches thread, if you haven't already.
And if it's really a bother, you can just not use it. It's not like that's the only way to steal a baseComment

I don't want to file a report until I see its not just my game doing this.Comment

Yea I noticed this too...I think i read it in a few other places that pickoffs are way too prevalent too...the cpu even gets picked off. Stealing is a major part of the game so I hope this gets fixed in a patchComment

Re: Perfect steal, every time
Pick offs have been pretty high. It was much more of a problem when I first got the game in RttS. My CPU teammates were getting picked off often.
Since I started my franchise, it's been less of a problem, but it still happens in higher rates than the past MLB the show titles. I have even picked off the CPU about 2-3 times already, which is already 2 times more than I did last year.Comment

Definitely not 100% for me, I've played a lot of Cubs-Pirates matchups during the course of gameplay testing and I've been gunned by Russell Martin with Emilio Bonifacio attempting to steal 2nd several times. I've also successfully stolen off Yadier Molina, so it does go both ways.
None of my stolen bases have come with an extra leadoff. More often than not I get picked off as soon as I try to take that extra step.Comment

Well he mentioned R2 (it's actually L2), and that's the trigger for the runner to steal in normal gameplay. Unless there's a control I don't know about in RTTS, you can't queue up a steal like that - you have to watch the pitcher and break as soon as you see him move (or sometimes you can get away with moving a split second before he starts his motion).Comment

No, I was talking about RTTS. I play with Classic baserunning controls. As soon as I get on base, I take no leadoffs, I just tap R2 and wait. The milisecond the pitcher moves, my guy breaks for 2nd automatically. I can steal 2nd and 3rd every single time without a tag even being applied. And if I decide to take a leadoff, I make the base standing up. My next test is to get my speed to 99 and see if I can steal home with a leadoff.Well he mentioned R2 (it's actually L2), and that's the trigger for the runner to steal in normal gameplay. I always use r2 to steal. In my slider set I have solved this " steal success" by adjusting the sliders around. Is say my success rate is now around 60% or so on the first attempt, depending on the person who is attempting the steal and who the catcher is.

In rtts, I hold the left stick back, toward the base I'm on. I have never been picked off when using this method, even when taking an extra step. As far as the R2 button, I will probably give this a try next time I get to play.Comment

Re: Perfect steal, every time
yeah I've experienced this too. I made a speedy INF because I like the challenge of reading the pitcher's first step in order to steal. With RTTS this year, all I have to do is pull the R2 as soon as I get on base and it's a perfect jump every time. I've tried dropping the steal success slider, but it doesn't seem to have much effect on me while killing the steal success of all AI-controlled players.Comment
