Thank goodness. As an online only player it's fast becoming unplayable with all the glitches, bugs and high weirdness. Really disappointed in this release.

I have to agree, its a bit frustrating with the issues the game has from the start.

1 thing about SCEA is they have always been pretty good about fixing things and doing it in a timely matter. So I have complete confidence they will get things fixed. I would be surprised if things arent fixed, considering the track record by the devs with MLBTS.

The question is *can* it be fixed? We'll find out soon I suppose. It's amazing how games are allowed to ship and be sold as broken as this. Can you imagine an a appliance sold with features that are completely broken? Pretty brazen IMO.

This will be a test for if the PS4 version will perform better at launch. I'd have to assume that if any of the changes help improve the PS3 version, they'll be added to the PS4 version's first patch. Maybe not the day one patch though.

You mean like vehicles that have mass recalls and kill people? At least this is a just a game no one gets hurt. I understand the frustration when things dont work like they should but SCEA will get a patch out and I hope they can fix the stuff they and their fans want/need fixing

Usually it's not a critical feature affecting every vehicle. This is every copy of every game. In fact almost every game is pushed out needing a patch. You couldn't do that before connected consoles.

I know what you mean, but they have in the past been able to fix major issues. Im only a offline gamer, and I would think the duplicate issue with signing players thru player search should be easy to fix.

I would also think that the issue wit the budget that causes all the small market teams to become big market teams is something that should be easy to just retune, I wouldnt think that would be hard to get right/fix.

Same with not being able to steal on your own like in years past with auto baserunning, I would think they could patch in the old way.

Since I dont play online I dont know the issues there, but it seems every year and with every game online always has its issues. 1 of the main reason I dont every play online is it seems to be to much of a headache to deal with.

Head to head Online the past few years has been great aside from occasional lag. The improvements like starting pitcher rotation, ranked Matchups etc are awesome but they have crazy warping and high weirdness occurring due to changes in sync code, I just hope it's fixable because offline the game is a work of art

I don't think SCEA released the game with any malice in regard to putting out poor online performance. I think when they tested it inhouse the game played really well in their controlled environment, but the vastness of the online network is a different beast.

With that said it shocks me that this happens so often with games (not just The Show) where developers don't have the tools to create a replica of the online environment to see how the game will perform and adjust it before release. It gets harder and harder to accept poor online performance when it happens year after year. I am not an online guy but I can feel the frustration of not being able to play a game for all intends and purposes you payed $60 for. I would feel bad personally if that was my product I released to the hard working public and loyal customers.

Didn't want another thread for this, and didn't see it anywhere else, but is there a chance that, with a patch, that we could see more real coaches in the game?

Is that something for a roster update or something that wouldn't even be possible?

Guys like DeMarlo Hale & Matt Williams were in in MLB 12, but aren't this year.

If they weren't part of the MLBPA at the time of the licensing agreement, they won't be in. They can't be patched in either. Only exception to this was in '11 with some previous managers still in via glitch or something (Trembley instead of Showalter, Piniella instead of Quade & Bobby Cox instead of Fredi Gonzalez).

Part of the problem is that when you release a product, in many cases it will be exposed to a set of entirely different issues than developers could have imagined while development. And it is pretty much impossible to prepare test environments that are exact replica of the real, production environment. It's simply too expensive to set things up that way.

To be honest, though, I never really thought the online for The Show is THAT terrible, to the extent that it is unplayable. Yeah, it is not as good as offline games, but I have been playing online pretty consistently, and I have had fun time.

This yeah really is different, however. I don't think SCEA has ever made an "excuse" in a statement like the one being made public before, despite all the usual complaints about the online part of the game. It really does feel like a pre-beta test product, given the amount of glitches that have never happened before. I am fully expecting SCEA to improve things in coming months, but a lot of complaints this year are understandable.
