Six position players in the MLB alone have thrown a ball over 100 mph this season: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leade...Direction=desc

These are all measurables. And he is top 1% in all of them . You do realize that they can measure these things in the minor leagues too right??
Minor league stadiums do not have as many Trackman / Hawk-eye systems as major league parks, so the statistical margin of error is significantly higher. This is why minor league statcast numbers aren't treated with as much certainty as MLB statcast numbers.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the above is why a lot of minor league statcast data is not available in a cumulative manner. Because minor league parks have different setups, the data available is typically only retrievable on a game-by-game basis.

If you want to update his ratings, here's what we have for him:

Primary Position: SS
Secondary Position: 2B/3B
Hitter Type: Pull Hitter
Potential: 90

Contact vs Righties: 62
Contact vs Lefties: 54
Power vs Righties: 73
Power vs Lefties: 73
Vision: 52
Discipline: 50
Batting Clutch: 65
Durability: 88
Speed: 77
Arm Strength: 77
Arm Accuracy: 71
Reaction: 75
Fielding: 64
Stealing: 80
Baserunning Aggressiveness: 80
What do you have for O'Neill Cruz? I'd make EDC a more advanced hitter and faster than O'Neill (ratings wise). EDC has slightly better range, but arm strength and accuracy should be similar.

Re: ELLY DE LA CRUZ

I love the kid, and at his size and with his athletic ability I think a move to the OF at some point is probably on the horizon. Sky's the limit for him no matter where he plays. I hope the Reds are able to continue to develop him.

As far as the arm stuff, looks like he's made 6 throw according to statcast with a max velo of 88. Really small sample size and at SS or 3B the opportunity to let it rip may not have come yet. What was said above about minor league stadiums and their setups is correct, so it will take some time to see how it shakes out.

Reds have some nice young talent coming up, will be fun to see how it plays out.

That is not true, even from the SS/3B position.

Brian Anderson: 101.9
Jose Barrero: 99.7
Ezequiel Durran: 99.2

Also, that was a AAA throw (probably more variance in the data). So far, in the MLB (where the data is presumably more reliable), his fastest in 10 throws (a very small sample size to be sure) is *only* 88.1, which, as of yesterday, would put him tied for 48th among MLB 2B/3B/SS.

I don't understand the concept here. So 10 throws is more accurate than AAA data? Im also not finding anywhere that says AAA stat cast data is less accurate than MLB data.

Before the 2023 season, only the Pacific Coast League (AAA) and Florida State League (A) games had expanded statcast data. In 2023, all the minor league stadiums were updated to add expanded statcast data; however, not all the minor league stadiums have 12 Hawkeye cameras installed (like MLB stadiums). Less cameras means less fidelity, which leads to larger deviations. Moreso, the majority of minor league parks aren't large enough to place all the cameras in ideal positions for the best readings.

Also, as far as I'm aware, minor league statcast data is not publically available except on a game-by-game basis.
