Fake OSFM and Hybrid Roster

As most have you have probably noticed, there are many fakes floating around in the Vault and many ambitious souls working on transfer projects on here.

As one of the guys who puts countless hours in on both roster projects each year, it does bother me that people are taking our hard work and passing it off as their own. It also bothers me because they are pushing a subpar product out into the "market" and confusing people who want the real thing.

What I will say to help those who are confused by what is what - the OSFM has not been released yet. V1 is currently being worked on and the Hybrid will follow shortly after.

This year's OSFM looks incredible and is worth the wait.

I really appreciate what you and everyone else do to get the OSFM and Hybrids out. Ive went through and down voted all the fakes that are in the vault. Might help if anyone on there does the same.

What user name posts the OSFM usually? So I know what to look for. Also, I know its quite the process but how long would you guess until its finished?

I think it is either Knight165 or RidinDwnKingsley, for the regular roster. The hybrid is going to be under Willards GT. Also the GT will be in the first post of either a new saying it has been released or the sticky thread.

I really appreciate the hard work that all the roster creators have put into the project. It really is unfortunate that some people would steal your work and post it on the vault making it look like its their own work.

If I could add just a bit...Also think about how many useless posts pop up daily about "when is the release date?" when guys just don't read the thread although they should at least go a few pages deep. Well, imagine adding a ton of "is this the real roster?" and "is OSFM already out?" posts to that--that would be beyond frustrating for people doing actual work and trying to use the main thread to actually communicate project details. That's the real problem with the fakes floating around out there.

Don't think this was aimed at you my man. Just a general observation and one of the many issues that Ridin' and Willard are dealing with. As long as you don't give your transfer roster a confusing title, like, say, OSFM 2015, it shouldn't be a problem.

When the real ports come out from the real OS creators, the fakes will get downvoted into oblivion by people who will recognize the real creators and the real projects. You can bet on that. I won't claim to be that well known, but people see Knight, PJSnell or Baumy, for exemple, and it's an automatic download and upvote. For now, the vault is relatively barren in terms of official releases that come from here, but give it a month or so and we should collectively own the first page of the roster vault, like last year.

I've been using the OS Rosters for years now, but I've never understood the difference between OSFM and Hybrid? Anyone care to explain?

Hybrid is a full rerate and edit of the roster while OSFM creates the missing players.

If I could add just a bit...Also think about how many useless posts pop up daily about "when is the release date?" when guys just don't read the thread although they should at least go a few pages deep. Well, imagine adding a ton of "is this the real roster?" and "is OSFM already out?" posts to that--that would be beyond frustrating for people doing actual work and trying to use the main thread to actually communicate project details. That's the real problem with the fakes floating around out there.

As an NCAA football roster editor, I completely understand the complaint here, and I'm pretty sure this happens with every game. Unfortunately, this is something that can not be controlled (unless the mods to go to extreme lengths to enforce this). You just learn to deal with it after a while I guess. There will always be misguided, impatient souls with no clue or patience, regardless of the game, console, roster, etc. (No offense to them.)

While it is confusing with the fakes around this year, I, like the editors and followers, hope that folks would at least think to look in the thread for the full details, but oh well.

With that said, I'm very excited for the real thing to come out, whenever it may be. Thanks to Willard, Knight and Kingsley, and everyone else who is working, for the product.

I don't mind waiting and I download your guys roster every year. But when are we likely to see it come out?

So OSFM is just player edits, and Hybrid is player edits + ratings?
