      Not to criticize the people working on osfm roster.I respect everyone time and effort working on these roster .But can we just have the right balance of prospect and fille on the roster.There really no need of additional prospect that not listed in mlb teams top 20 prospect list.

        This is just a very early guess at how the rosters will shake out. Ravenelle could replace Lara. I'll definitely keep him in mind.

        I'm not opposed to putting the best prospects in the roster regardless of their age. However, in recent years we've stuck to this formula:

        MLB=100% Accurate
        AAA=100% Accurate
        AA=90% or more Accurate
        A=Best Available Prospects without adding a bunch of teenagers.

        If Knight and Ridin want to do things differently I'm all for trying something new.

          Detroit just traded Jefry Marte to the Angels for 2B prospect Kody Eaves. Link below. Eaves might be in AA to start the 2016 campaign.

              Re: OSFM 2016: Detroit Tigers

              Dear Ivanhoe,

              As promised I have sent you by e-mail a chart which I prepared with the numbers I came up with for the position players. I did not bother with numbers for SCEA players since these players are included in the game come and as I understand it the plan is to leave these numbers as is. I compared the players in my chart with your list and the only players I did not include are A.J. Simcox and Cam Gibson. I viewed those players as too low in the minors. For Simcox there were many shortstops ahead of him. There are also a lot of outfielders ahead of Cam Gibson. Giancarlo Brugnoni was on the edge, but I included him in my chart when I saw that he had quite a bit of power with a high number of his hits being for extra bases

              In regard to the chart please note:

              1. The numbers are based on the previous years performance;
              2. The outfielders are broken out by position;
              3. The players under each position are listed generally in order of experience with the most experience MLB starter on top and "A" players at the bottom;
              4. I added an additional column called "Overall". This is not an average of the values but rather the number which the game generates. As you know in calculating the "overall" number the game gives different values different weights based the player's primary fielding position;
              5. I added "potential" values, but I feel much less confident in them;
              6. Some interesting results came out in preparing the chart:

              - I noticed when one adds assists and fielding errors together for Dean Green he actually seems to get to more balls than other first basemen I rated, but he has a much higher fielding error rate. That is why I gave him a high reaction number and a low fielding number.

              - Ismael Salgado is not so good with the bat, but is strong in the field.

              - Drew Longley had very good defensive statistics as a catcher. The numbers I gave him reflect this.

              7. The speed score is based on the Bill James speed score. This is an average of six factors;
              8. Base running aggressiveness is based on the part of the speed score of how often when on base he tries to steal a base;
              9. Bunt and Drag numbers are based on actual results for the year for those that I collected information (not the newly acquired players)

              We hope you find this information useful. It is just my suggestions for the players.

              Best regards,

              Karle

              P.S. I do have on a roster all the position players in my chart "created" in that all have the correct name and player values. That was the only way I could get the "overall" numbers. For the outfielders and catchers and newly signed players I have not yet worked on the faces. I used last year's roster as a start so I do have some of the same faces as last year's roster. I am going to keep working on this roster. I have now added A.J. Simcox to the chart and have sent you the updated version.

                Tigers signed Bobby Parnell today. MiLB deal.

                They also are working out Lucas Harrell. He may sign with them. If he does sign I have a CAP of him I can send you and you can do your work with him if need be.

                  They're killing us with all of these signing. If they do sign Harrell, please send us the CAP and thanks for the heads up and the help.

                    Re: OSFM 2016: Detroit Tigers

                    The problem with all these signings is that many of these players are likely just getting a"chance" to make the team. While we can create them all, a good number of them will end up being cut after Spring Training is over. An example is Luke Carlin who at age 35 has been signed to a minor league contract.

                    As for top 20 prospects, in helping create players I stayed away from creating anyone whose whole experience so far is limited to A short season and/or Gulf Coast League. For prospects at these lowest levels there may be great "hope", but the players are still untested and many see their numbers drop off dramatically as they move up through the levels.

                        Ivanhoe,

                        But the good news is that Bobby Parnell pitched for the Mets in 2015 in the Majors and so he is a SCEA player. Thus, we should not need to create him.

                          Ivanhoe,

                          SB Nation (www.minorleagueball.com) just posted (February 21) their list of top 20 prospects for the Detroit Tigers for 2016. This report is always good as it gives "Grades". I always consider the "others of notes" as being at least C's. You may wish to adjust some of the player potentials based on this report, if you believe it is appropriate.

                          Karle.

                              Good catch, Karle! I'll look at this tonight. I've been using the Baseball America Handbook as a guide but I think the more info the better.
