Re: Speed Ratings - MLB The Show 16

Here's a few I noticed from DD that seemed off:

CLE- Yan Gomes 28
CHC- Ben Zobrist 59
CHC- Addison Russell 67
StL- Stephen Piscotty 55
COL- Charlie Blackmon 79
LAD- Alex Guerrero 53

I was also wondering what range you'd rate pitchers' speed and how much of a difference do you think it makes?

Russell is already on my list in the 1st page the others are close to were they should be, I usually don't touch pitchers running speed unless the pitcher have shown that can really run and is used as a pinch runner from time to time like D.Willis did or something like that, pitchers usually don't put much effort to prevent injuries, speed attribute matters when rounding the bases or running in the OF, for stolen bases in the game it's like 60% the other 40 is the player baserunning ability which affects how good of a jump the player gets when trying to steal.

For the Detroit minor league players to be included in the Full Minors I used the six factor Bill James Speed Score for calculating player speed, taking the final average and multiplying the number by 10. It seems to give a fairly accurate number.

Re: Speed Ratings - MLB The Show 16

Thank you for noticing Kevin Kiermaier's speed. I thought no one else outside of Florida recognized it. Last year, he had 56 speed opening day rosters, and this year he is a 79... So we're slowly getting to (what I think is his real rating should be) around a 95.

Good thing I found this because I was going to make a thread on the main forum. I will be downloading these rosters for sure. Thanks!

[quote=Jros22;2048087385]Top speed doesn't say everything, Kris Bryant top speed is almost like Trout but his acceleration is way slower.

Amen. I've said this for years. They need a speed and quickness rating. Almost all major leaguers can run between 18 - 22mph. But we have guys at 30s and 40s in the game that hit 19mph. But they need to add more hitting ratings too. Thanks for this thread. I've always edited speed ratings and now I can compare.

I mostly agree with you on Markasis for the Braves. He probably should be no higher than 55-58 & definitely not a 65 rating for sure now with some age on him.

Denard Span 74? He stole 11 bases in 61 games last season. Was thinking 74 to 82-84?

Pence's speed is 80, Span I think is faster than Pence.
