Not necessarily. Monster seasons are extremely rare....quite a few hall of famers never have one....just steady, consistent great years. I have the first draft done and 85%-90% looks like you would expect it too...the other 10-15% is a bit weird.

Some players will be rated highly, but have crappy potential...as they only had the one good year before falling off a cliff.

I'm thinking of doing something very similar to this, but actually breaking it down by position. What you said in the previous post also makes a lot of sense and will incorporate.

My next question is on Pitchers. I'm still trying to figure out how to rate them.

In the dead ball era through the 60s most teams went with a 4 man rotation....Pud Galvin in the year he had 20.5 WAR started 72 games.

I've divided the WAR by batters faced and it looks better....just not sure if its right or not either.

By that metric, Pedro and Maddux have the best two seasons. But then I have Marvin Freeman having better a better season than Koufax, Seaver Matthewson ever had. In Koufax case, quite significantly. That doesn't sit right with me.

So the tweaking continues. I'm open to suggestions if you're willing.

Re: Brady Anderson

This is what I come up with on Freeman using his 1994 season
potential 83
durability 92
stamina 83
h/9 59
k/9 64
bb/9 93
hr/9 47
clutch 80

4 sm velo 54 /control 83/ break 50

slider control 65 /break 70

splitter control 60 /break 65

curve control 55 /break 60

changeup control 50 /break 55

speed 34
arm 56
acc 42
reaction 48
field 47

His overall is 83

I didnt bother looking at his hiiting, it shouldnt really affect his overall .
I'm sure Koufax and Seaver would come out way better . I dont know about Christy since I can't currently do players pre-1954

Re: Brady Anderson

SC can I ask you where you got Shoeless Joe's contact ratings?? He had the third highest batting average ever?

I don't have a good answer for that. My best guess is that he was in the initial batch I imported, his overall looked good, and I did not alter it at all. I can tell since his throwing accuracy is over 70, which I thought I had adjusted for all OFers to be under 70.

In the overhaul, his ratings will be based on his 1912 season where he batted .395 and his ratings will reflect as such, once I have a system in place.

As of right now, I'm still at the data stage. I've gathered every players season with WAR of 1 or more, dedupped to keep their highest WAR season for position players and separated into teams. I'm not 100% content with the breakdown, especially for the expansion teams, so tweaking continues.

For pitchers, I'm still trying to figure out a better system to break them down by.

For the first release, I want to have at least a 40 man roster for every team. Current roster is over 1300 players, so its just a matter of redistributing to proper team and altering their attributes. My hope is to have this done by October.

The grand plan is to have a 90 man for every team, but I honestly don't see that being completed until next years version.
