Quick ? On editing rosters

Can someone please tell me how to release and sign player to teams when trying to edited ur own roster? Im trying to release Jose Bautista from the Braves and put Lucas Sims on the Braves MLB roster and sign Jose Bautista to the Mets. Can someone help me PLEASE.

Are you trying to do this in franchise or just making changes in the front end edit menu?

You can't just release them, you have to move them to free agents like a trade.

So that means I ALWAYS have to have 90 players on each team, and I cannot just release a player UNLESS I pick another up?
