This spreadsheet creates ratings based off each player's three best qualifying seasons (I go by OPS for batters and I use a formula for pitchers to determine those three seasons). This is an attempt at creating a "peak" version of any given historical player. If a player doesn't have three qualifying seasons (20 G for Pitchers or 300 AB for Batters), their career neutralized stat line is used.
To create ratings, you just need to copy and paste the player's standard and neutralized stats (1984 AL for Pitchers and 1993 AL for Batters - both 4.42 R/G) in the appropriate boxes in the BatterCalc and PitcherCalc sections, then sort by either pitcher rating or OPS in descending order. You can then find their "Three Best Seasons" and "Career" stat lines in the middle, which are automatically generated.
Finalized Player Ratings are shaded in teal in the Batters and Pitchers sheets. They are all percentiles based on the entire pool of players, so the more players that are added, the more accurate the numbers become.
I have over 4300 historical players added so far. I only recently added a stamina rating based on IP/G from pitchers' three seasons or career numbers, so more and more pitchers will have their stat lines updated with Stamina ratings as I go year-by-year (I started in 2019 and have added each pitcher with at least 20 games in a season, and I'm now in 2006. I have plenty of other pitchers from throughout history already, but this is how I'm being thorough).
