I did NCA Football rosters for years back in the day on the original XBox. I used to get 10-20 memory cards in the mail every day. I’d load my roster on the memory card and mail it back to the sender. Each year it took me 1-2 weeks just to name all the players.
I say all that because I know about the time it takes to edit rosters and I’d argue that, back then, the NCAA rosters were much more hyped than The Show’s rosters ever have been. At every turn, I was always quick to give an update on how many teams I had completed, where I was in the project, etc. I had no issue whatsoever talking about when I hoped to be done with them with the understanding that I might be a little bit later… or maybe sooner than expected.
So this notion, that they are these saints that shouldn’t be asked when the rosters might be done, or asked for an update, is just so silly to me. I have no clue why they want to have a paid subscription for roster editing on Twitch. It’s quite laughable to me. I made around $2,000 a year when I did NCAA rosters just from donations. I never specifically asked for money but people would throw in $5, $10, and sometimes even $20 with their memory card in the mail. It was definitely appreciated, but never expected. It seems that this team, while I appreciate their work as well, has very little patience or understanding for those that wait for the rosters. It takes next to nothing to say, “I think we’re around 40% done,” or, “we have ________ teams done.” And the fact that, in years past, people get roasted for asking for updates is so ridiculous. The easy solution to repetitive questions is to give updates. It’s not hard at all and yes, I obviously speak from experience.
I look back at my years of doing NCAA rosters and just think about how I started it, and it was because I was so excited to start a dynasty that I knew I could get them done before anyone else. So then I wanted to share that with everyone. It was never about making lots of money to me and I never had a single issue with answering questions about when the roster would be done because I knew the person asking was just as excited as me to start their dynasty.
The fact that there have been Twitch streams in the past about the release of the roster demonstrates the difference between myself and the creators of OSFM rosters. I didn’t care about the publicity, I was just an NCAA fan that wanted to start my dynasty and I knew everyone on OS wanted the same thing.
So, I guess what I’m saying is, give an update, don’t give an update, whatever. I’m 41 years old now and not going to get overly worked up about it. But being a little more open about the process always helped in my experience.
I’m sure someone will give me crap for this post, and it’s fine. But it’s the truth and the way it is. I don’t know the OSFM team’s true motivation necessarily, but I think it’s safe to say we have very different, “public relations.”

Minor side question:
Spoiler
Any thoughts on DT Linder? I'm sure you doing NCAA rosters on memory card know that name.
Reason I ask is I used to mail my memory card to him from a site I found. I remember him requiring like $5 or $10 with it though.

Twitch is free other than costing you a small portion of your soul
But on a serious note if you're sitting here saying the entire franchise mode depends on someone's work then giving $5 dollars to subscribe and support them for what they give to the community doesn't seem like such a bad idea. I'm not saying you have to but In what little time I've watched the ScoutScoops content it just seems like a really positive thing for the community. The only thing that is locked to subscribers is archived content so you could still tune in and even ask questions.
I remember the days of Knight165 and Jim416...SCEA specifically kept in Manage-Only-Mode and updated it (I think) solely because of Knight and his work. Knight did it to help the community while Ridin's attitude toward it and OS has been quite different. Certainly am grateful for the work done but it's definitely not the same...I'll leave it at that.

Oh, yeah. I remember DT Linder. He was basically the PlayStation roster guy and I was the XBox guy. I never wanted to actually charge for my rosters but I always made a decent chunk for a college student at the time.

There are a lot of really good guys here but there's still this looming aura of entitlement here sometimes. There's no way I can look at the work they do with rosters and even now the minor league stadium project and not think what they are doing is to help the community.
It just seems like a lot of people struggle to comprehend or believe the community for MLB The Show extends past this website and it's outdated forum software. I've spent/spend a lot of time on this site but using Twitter and Twitch to facilitate information is the norm if you want to remain relevant and reach a wider audience.

You’re famous! I don’t blame them for not posting on here honestly. These are grown men with full time jobs and families that literally do this for free. I wouldn’t want the BS either.
