No dumb questions just dumb people. So here goes….What is the difference between directional ( buttons) hitting and timing?

Directional hitting you can use the left thumbstick to influence the direction that you're trying to aim where the ball goes in play. (So a right handed batter you would hold the stick Left to try and pull the ball). Timing you just hit the swing button.
