Comparison of some OS hitting sliders

I was interested in comparing the sliders affecting human hitting that some of you have posted on OS, so I plotted them up relative to the default value (5). I thought it might foster some discussions/improvements on various human offensive sliders, so thought I would share...enjoy!

Notes:
1. I consider the sliders affecting player offense to be: Human contact (H_con), power (H_pow), timing (H_time), foul frequency (H_foul), solid hits (H_solid), along with CPU pitch control (C_pitch cont.), consistency (C_pitch consis.), and strike frequency (C_strike freq), and finally fielder speed and reaction time (fielder react.). The are listed in that order from left to right on x-axis
2. Colored outlines are not separate data, just where two sets overlap (i.e. red outlined with blue = HCP + FenwayMac)
3. These are all for All Star hitting

Re: Comparison of some OS hitting sliders

I was wondering what the averages as a whole would end up at when adding some top sliders together from here. There was an NCAA slider thread like that, took 7 slider creators, put in an excel file, and it came up with an average combined slider base. I remember using that to help me settle in on a set.

I'm not huge in to changes in this game, but would be curious to see what the averages would look like from some of the above.

Edit:

Found it, check the thread and the excel sheet to see what i mean.

Re: Comparison of some OS hitting sliders

Timing, really needs to be included in this. I've discovered lately that lowering the timing slider has actually resulted in more hits. Seems like it allows for more varied hit locations.

Ever feel like everything you hit is going right at someone, or you're not seeing enough down the line etc...?

Try lowering timing down a notch or two and see how it feels. I can especially see the difference with hits getting by infielders a little more often instead of it seeming like they just go right at somebody more often than not.

Just went through and made a quick excel sheet comparing 12 slider sets from this year. Then got an average slider set from them all. Curious to see how it plays out using the average. Hmm.

Anyway, zipped excel sheet attached below.

Exactly, lower can help - it usually depends on what your timing (as in, VE/E/JE/G/JL/L/VL) is in general with a nod to the Contact slider (since it's like how "long" the "overall timing line" with the Timing slider shifting where the "regions of timing" are, at least that's how I think of it.

If you're often Early or Late (or worse) raising can help. If you're often Good, and not seeing results, lowering can help.

Either way, you're getting more Just Early/Just Late, which can be the difference between a long out to CF and a gapper for 2 or 3 bases. Also get more hits down the lines, which can be tough to defend and you can push/pull balls with just your bat control (timing) and not have to deal with influencing.

One thing about lower Timing is that it's very sensitive. Also since PCI location impacts hit direction (it seems), the two can combine to really, really make small differences have big effects.

I don't particularly like that (would rather hook/slice instead of outright push/pull) so I keep it a bit higher so that my bat control is speaking more than PCI push/pull.
