HDR Slider

What is everyone's consensus on the HDR Slider? It ius on a scale from 0-100, zero being default. I am currently maxed out on the slider and I just wanted others input on this subject.

Re: HDR Slider

At max slider setting, the game will output peak brightness of 1,000 nits. If your TV can reach that without clipping, then you are good to go. If your TV can reach something like 400 nits, then turn down the slider a little less than half way.

Your contrast setting also matters. It's best to use an HDR test patterns for white clipping to see where your cut off point is.

Otherwise best to check your Tv's specs for nits output, use default contrast, and adjust HDR setting based on that.

Re: HDR Slider

It's not as simple as your tv is 400 nits, turn it down halfway. It's probably going to vary by TV to TV even around same nits.

With the Sony XBR43X800D at half, it gets washed out thus requiring you to start changing the color to really high and getting some unrealistic coloring at points.

I have mine 20 clicks from 0. It looks wonderful and I was able to keep my color at 50-55 (default is 50) range while enabling live color to medium-high range.

You never want to have to rely on having to up your color way up to get it to saturate. It'll look good at first but you start to see issues as you play various parks.

Re: HDR Slider

I've actually turned HDR off and I'm enjoying it much more

The game still looks beautiful and I can stop obsessing over trying to make it perfect
