Not going to jump to that conclusion over a couple games in Miami......I'm 4 - 2 through 6 games and have had games where I didn't hit at all.

Will re-assess after 15 to 20 games and see how things even out over a larger chunk of games against different competition, tougher lineups and better pitchers

For now - I have had games where I hit, games where I struggle, games where I pitch great with my #5 starter, games where Chris Sale has struggled, I had no HR games and a game where I hit 4 HR, I've seen errors, walks aren't non-existent ......for now I play on and see where things land after more games

Re: TNK MLB 2018 SLIDERS

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #7 of Season

Tampa Bay Rays (3-3) @ Boston Red Sox (4-2)
Pitching Matchup - Blake Snell vs David Price

The Red Sox are back at Fenway for their home opener as they host the Rays for a 3 game series after the teams split a 4 game series to open the season. Tampa would jump out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the 3rd inning and they added 2 more runs in the top of the 4th on a RBI double from Robertson and a RBI ground out from Refsnyder giving the Rays a 3-0 lead. Blake Snell through 4 innings but the Red Sox were threatening in the bottom of the 5th when singles by Bogaerts and Nunez gave Boston runners at the corners with 1 out for Vazquez. Snell would get out of the inning on a great defensive play as Vazquez ripped a grounder down the 3rd base line but Matt Duffy made a fantastic diving stop on his backhand and hopped to his feet quickly to start a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning and keep it a 3-0 game. Tampa had runners at the corners with 2 outs in the top of the 6th but Price froze Refsnyder with a back door cutter that came back over the corner for a big strikeout to end the inning. Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi hit back to back singles with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th to put two men on for the Red Sox with the heart of the order coming up. Snell was pitching carefully to Hanley Ramirez as he fell behind in the count and Ramirez made him pay as he squared up a fastball over the plate and drove it into the monster seats in LF for a 3-run HR and just like that we had ourselves a tie game 3-3. Price would get the 1st out in the 7th and then got Kiermaier to hit a grounder to 1st base but Ramirez bobbled the ball and couldn't make the flip to Price in time and was charged with an error as Kiermaier reached and the Rays would have speed ont he bases. Matt Barnes would come on to replace Price and get Gomez to fly out for the 2nd out. CJ Cron was up next and Kiermaier was running on the 1st pitch but was gunned down on a perfect throw from Vazquez to end the inning and keep the game tied 3-3. Yonny Chirinos replaced Snell on the mound for Tampa to begin the bottom of the 7th and hit Devers with an inside fastball to put the lead off man on for Boston. Chirinos would strikeout Nunez and Vazquez before a single by Bradley put two men on base for Boston with Mookie Betts coming up with a chance to give his team the lead. Chirinos would escape the jam as Betts flew out to Gomez to end the inning and send the game to the 8th inning tied 3-3. The Rays had two men on with two outs in the top of the 8th for Robertson who was 2 for 3 in the game but Barnes would get out of the inning as Robertson flew out to Betts in RF to end the threat. Andrew Benintendi led off the bottom of the 8th and hit a high fly ball to RF that was hooking towards the pole as Gomez raced towards the foul line and the ball hooked just inside the Pesky pole out of the reach of Gomez for Benintendi's first HR of the season to give the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. Boston closer Craig Kimbrel came on to pitch the 9th looking to close it out and would get Refsnyder to fly out and Duffy to ground out as the Rays were down to their final out. Kevin Kiermaier battled hard and worked it to a full count after fouling off several pitches with two strikes but Kimbrel would finally get him on the 10th pitch of the at bat as he blew a 99 mph fastball past Kiermaier for the K to end the game and record his 2nd save of the season as the Red Sox win 4-3

* The Red Sox earn a thrilling 4-3 come from behind victory in their home opener at Fenway

* Andrew Benintendi hit his 1st HR of the season and it was a big one as he hit the go ahead HR down the RF line in the bottom of the 8th to snap a 3-3 tie. Benintendi was 2 for 4 in the game

* David Price settled down after allowing 3 early runs and battled his way through 6+ innings on the mound

* Hanley Ramirez is on fire as he homered for the 3rd straight game and is 5 for 14 in those 3 games with 4 HR and 9 RBI

* Jackie Bradley has a 6 game hit streak

* The Red Sox and Rays will be off tomorrow before resuming this 3 game series with Rick Porcello set to face Andrew Kittredge

Re: TNK MLB 2018 SLIDERS

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #8 of Season

Tampa Bay Rays (3-4) @ Boston Red Sox (5-2)
Pitching Matchup - Andrew Kittredge vs Rick Porcello

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd when Mookie Betts lined a solo HR over the green monster for his 2nd HR of the year to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 through 5 innings as Kittredge and Porcello had only allow 2 hits apiece. Boston had runners at the corners with two outs for Nunez in the bottom of the 6th and he would deliver a RBI single as he lined a pitch from Chirinos into CF to make it 2-0. Chirinos would get Bradley to line out to end the inning and send the game to the 7th with Boston on top by a 2-0 score. Carlos Gomez reached to begin the 7th when Bogaerts pulled Ramirez off the bag with an errant throw to first base, but Porcello would get Brad Miller to hit into a 4-6-3 double play for two big outs and then get Duffy to ground out as Porcello was through 7 shutout innings on the mound. The Red Sox got a lead off walk by Leon and back to back singles from Betts and Benintendi would load the bases for the red hot Hanley Ramirez with nobody out in the bottom of the 7th as they threaten to blow this game open. Chirinos got a huge K of Ramirez before Martinez hit a sac fly to RF scoring Leon to make it 3-0. Chirinos did a great job of limiting the damage as he fanned Bogaerts to escape the inning with only one run crossing the plate and we would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Joey Wendle singled to lead off the top of the 8th and moved into scoring position when Porcello bounced a pitch that got away from Leon. Wilson Ramos delivered the Rays first run of the game with a RBI single to CF making it 3-1 with no outs. Mallex Smith followed with a single and that would be all for Porcello as he would exit and Carson Smith would come on with two men on and nobody out in a suddenly tense situation. Hechavarria bounced into a fielders choice as he beat out a double play to set up runners on the corners with 1 out. Denard Span was up next and had a great battle with Smith who came after Span with his 93 mph power sinker and on the 8th pitch of the at bat he got Span to hit the ball hard on the ground to Ramirez at 1st base who fired to Bogaerts at 2nd to start a huge inning ending 3-6-3 double play as the Rays could not capitalize and Smith gets out of the inning with the 3-1 lead intact. Boston stranded runners at the corners in the bottom of the 8th as Alvarado got Betts to ground out to Hechavarria to end the threat and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-1 with Craig Kimbrel on his way in to try and close it out. Kimbrel blew away Kiermaier for the 1st out and got squeezed on two pitches that looked like strike 3 to Gomez who would wind up punching a single to CF to give the Rays a base runner and bring the tying run to the plate in Brad Miller. Kimbrel came right back to strike out Miller on a 98 mph fastball and Matt Duffy would fly out to Betts in RF for the final out as Kimbrel gets his 3rd save and the Red Sox win 3-1.

* The Red Sox beat the Rays 3-1 and have now won their last 5 games to improve to 6-2 on the season

* Rick Porcello earned his first win of the season with a very strong performance as he held the Rays to 1 run on 6 hits in 7+ innings of work

* Carson Smith and Craig Kimbrel slammed the door in the 8th and 9th innings out of the Boston pen

* The Red Sox will get a boost to the starting rotation tomorrow as Eduardo Rodriguez returns to the team he was a little behind the rest of the team and was not ready for opening day following off-season knee surgery.

* The Red Sox pitching staff is close to returning to full strength as Drew Pomeranz is on track to join the rotation next week after an injury in spring training caused him to miss some time

* The Red Sox will look to complete the 3 game sweep of the Rays tomorrow when Eduardo Rodriguez makes his season debut against Jacob Faria for Tampa Bay

Re: TNK MLB 2018 SLIDERS

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #9 of Season

Tampa Bay Rays (3-5) @ Boston Red Sox (6-2)
Pitching Matchup - Jacob Faria vs Eduardo Rodriguez

*NOTE* - Not going to post the long game recap / story for each game as it becomes a time killer to keep pausing and typing about what happens. I will continue to post the box scores and a brief recap of the game with notes

The Rays jumped out to a 7-0 lead powered by 4 home runs as Carlos Gomez went deep in the 4th inning before Rob Refsnyder and Matt Duffy went back to back in the 5th inning. Brad Miller added a two run blast in the 6th and Jacob Faria was dominating on the mound as he held the Red Sox to 3 hits and racked up 11 Ks through 8 shutout innings. Boston would break the shutout with two outs in the bottom of the 9th when Andrew Benintendi crushed a ball deep and over the head of Kiermaier into the triangle in CF for a RBI triple to make it 7-1. Austin Pruitt would come on to get the final out and the Rays win 7-1

* The Rays avoid the sweep and hand the Red Sox a 7-1 defeat as Tampa Bay got 4 home runs offensively and a gem from Jacob Faria on the mound

* The Red Sox 5 game winning streak is snapped in the loss

* Jacob Faria was one out away from a complete game shutout as he went 8.2 innings on the mound stiking out 12 in a tremendous performance from the young Rays starter

* Eduardo Rodriguez looked rusty in his 2018 debut coming back from off-season knee surgery. Rodriguez was pitching decent until things fell apart in the 4th & 5th innings as he lasted just 4.2 innings and allowed 3 home runs to take the loss

* Adeiny Hechavarria has hit safely in all 9 games for Tampa Bay this season and is hitting .433 through 9 games

* The Red Sox sent RP Marcus Walden down to AAA Pawtucket to clear a spot on the 25 man active roster for Rodriguez

* The Red Sox (6-3) will have an off day to regroup and get ready for their first meeting of the season with the Yankees (5-5) as New York comes to Fenway Park to begin a 3 game series and kick off the 2018 chapter of the rivalry. The Red Sox will be sending Chris Sale to the mound in the opener against Luis Severino for New York

Re: TNK MLB 2018 SLIDERS

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #10 of Season

New York Yankees (5-5) @ Boston Red Sox (6-3)
Pitching Matchup - Luis Severino vs Chris Sale

The Red Sox and Yankees renew their rivalry for the first time in 2018 and the game was scoreless after 4 innings as we had a good pitchers duel unfolding as Luis Severino and Chris Sale were both sharp early. Sale had retired the first 13 Yankees hitters of the game before New York would load the bases in the top of the 5th, but Sale would come right back with back to back strikeouts of Neil Walker and Brandon Drury to end the inning and keep the score 0-0. The Yankees would open the scoring in the top of the 6th as they had runners at the corners with 1 out for Gary Sanchez who hit a chopper to Devers at 3rd who tried to start the double play but Sanchez would just beat the throw from Nunez allowing Gardner to score and make it 1-0. Andrew Benintendi doubled with 1 out for Boston in the bottom of the 6th making him 3 for 3 as he had all 3 Boston hits to this point in the game. Severino would get Ramirez to pop up and JD Martinez to ground out as he escapes the threat and the game would go to the 7th inning with New York leading 1-0. Things fell apart for Sale in the top of the 7th as Brandon Drury punched a RBI single into LF to make it 2-0. Brett Gardner beat out what would have been an inning ending double play to keep the inning alive for New York and Aaron Judge made it count as Sale tried to sneak a fastball in and Judge turned on it and lofted a high fly ball into the monster seats in the LF corner for a 3-run HR to open up a 5-0 lead for the Yankees. Joe Kelly replaced Sale on the mound and Ginacarlo Stanton welcomed him with a 437 foot bomb to CF to make it 6-0. New York would add more runs late on their way to a 10-0 rout

* The Yankees explode in the late innings and hand the Red Sox a 10-0 butt whooping (I have never been so angry after a game in my life)

* Chris Sale was nearly unhittable early but fell apart late in this game and took the loss to fall to 1-1

* Luis Severino was terrific for New York as he pitched 7 shutout inning on his way to the win to improve to 1-1 on the seaosn

* The Red Sox offense was pathetic for the second straight game and I'm on the verge of smashing a controller

* Giancarlo Stanton was 3 for 5 with 2 HR & 3 RBI and Aaron Judge went 2 for 5 with a HR & 3 RBI to lead the Yankees offense

* Andrew benintendi was 3 for 4 with 2 singles and a double for Boston.....everyone else sucked

* The Red Sox and Yankees will play the second game of this 3 game series tomorrow with Masahiro Tanaka set to face David Price on the mound
