TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #19 of Season

Toronto Blue Jays (9-9) @ Boston Red Sox (12-6)
Pitching Matchup – Alek Manoah vs Michael Wacha

The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd on a RBI double off the green monster by Matt Chapman made it 2-0. Toronto would load the bases with 2 outs in the inning for Bo Bichette and he would make it 6-0 with a grand slam to CF. The Red Sox answered in the bottom of the 2nd as they put two men on via a walk and an error for Franchy Cordero who connected for a 3-run HR to make it 6-3. Tanner Houck was doing a good job in relief of Wacha who exited early and the score remained 6-3 until the bottom of the 5th when Rafael Devers who was supposed to have a day off but came in to replace Christian Arroyo who was injured launched a solo HR for just the 2nd hit of the game for Boston cutting the deficit to 6-4. The Jays got back to back singles from Gurriel and Collins to begin the top of the 7th and Houck would exit as Hirokazu Sawamura came on to face Matt Chapman who delivered a RBI single to CF making it 7-4. Sawamura did a good job getting through the rest of the inning with no further damage and avoiding the big inning to keep it a 7-4 game. Alek Manoah remained in the game and retired the side to get through the 7th inning having allowed just two hits to Boston and we would head to the 8th inning with the Blue jays leading 7-4. George Springer tripled leading off the top of the 8th and Bo Bichette knocked him in with a RBI single making it 8-4. Manoah pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th to finish off his outing while Austin Davis pitched a scoreless top of the 9th for Boston and the Red Sox would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing by four runs with Trevor Richards coming on to pitch for Toronto. Richards retired Story to start the inning before Bogaerts struck out but reached as the ball got away from Kirk behind the plate and his throw to first base pulled Guerrero off the bag for the 3rd Blue jays error of the game. JD Martinez followed with a single and suddenly the Red Sox had two men on with 1 out and Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano would come in to try close it out. Romano would fan Bobby Dalbec on a 99 mph fastball and Franchy Cordero on a nasty slider for the final out as the Blue Jays win 8-4 and take the series

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #20 of Season

Boston Red Sox (12-7) @ Tampa Bay Rays (11-8)
Pitching Matchup – Rich Hill vs Ryan yarborough

The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd as Alex Verdugo led off the inning by launching a 407 foot shot into the RF stands for a solo HR. Christian Arroyo came up with 2 outs in the inning and Yarborough would leave a cutter up in the zone and Arroyo smoked a hooking line drive down the LF line that would just stay fair for his first HR of the season giving Boston a 2-0 lead. The Rays would answer with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd as Yandy Diaz hammered a ball over the head of Jarren Duran in CF for a RBI triple and Kevin Kiermaier would line a RBI single into LF scoring Diaz as Tampa Bay comes right back to tie the game 2-2 after two innings. Boston would retake the lead in the top of the 4th when Trevor Story singled with 1 out and Bobby Dalbec would get a cutter that stayed up in the zone and launched a 418 foot shot to CF for a 2-run HR putting Boston up 4-2. The Sox would get back to back singles by Arroyo and Vazquez to bring up Jarren Duran who lined a RBI single into CF making it 5-2 and knocked Yarborough out of the game as Kevin Cash would call on Luis Patino from the bullpen to get out of the inning. Rich Hill continued to do a great job of mixing his pitches and locations keeping the Rays hitters off balance and we would go to the 6th inning with Boston leading 5-2. Tampa Bay would put two men on with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th and Hill would get Yandy Diaz to hit the ball on the ground to Bogaerts who fielded it cleanly and flipped to Story at second base to end the threat and send the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox holding a 5-2 lead. Matt Wisler retired the Sox in order in the top of the 7th and Hill would return to the mound to begin the bottom of the 7th. Manuel Margot led off the bottom of the 7th with a single but Hill would make a quality pitch to Kevin Kiermaier as he got him to hit a hard ground ball to Story at second base who flipped to Bogaerts to start a perfectly executed 4-6-3 double play as they just got the speedy Kiermaier at first base and Hill would finish off a terrific outing by getting Isaac Paredes to ground out to Bogaerts ending the 7th inning and sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox still leading 5-2. Wisler pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th as the Sox went down quietly and Hansel Robles took over on the mound for Boston to pitch the bottom of the 8th. The Rays had the top of their order due up but Robles needed to throw just 5 pitches to make quick work of them as he retired the side on 3 routine fly ball outs to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 5-2. JT Chargois was on to pitch the top of the 9th for Tampa Bay and retired the side in order sending the game to the bottom of the 9th. Robles returned to the mound for the bottom of the 9th looking to finish off a nice road win for Boston. Mike Zunino led off by driving a ball high and deep the opposite way towards right-center but Alex Verdugo would race back and make a great catch crashing into the wall for the first out. Harold Ramirez flew out to Duran in CF and Yandy Diaz grounded out to Story as Robles gets the 6 out save and the Red Sox open the series with a 5-2 win

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox get a strong start from Rich Hill to go with some timely hitting to take the opener of this 3 game series with the Rays 5-2

* The Red Sox improve to 13-7 while the Rays fall to 11-9 on the season and the Red Sox lead over the Rays in the AL East standings is now 2.0 games

* The Red Sox made a roster move prior to the trip as they called up CF Jarren Duran from AAA Worcester and sent OF Jaylin Davis to Worcester. Duran started in CF to make his season debut and went 1 for 5 with a RBI

* The Red Sox and Rays will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow with Nathan Eovaldi getting the start for Boston against Shane McClanahan for Tampa Bay

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #21 of Season

Boston Red Sox (13-7) @ Tampa Bay Rays (11-9)
Pitching Matchup – Nathan Eovaldi vs Shane McClanahan

The Red Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning when Shane McClanahan hung a breaking ball to Rafael Devers who hit a solo HR that just cleared the wall in right-center. McClanahan got into a jam in the top of the 3rd when the Red Sox loaded the bases with 2 outs for JD Martinez who hit a fly ball to the right side in foul territory where Brett Phillips would make a great play as he made the catch at full speed in the Red Sox bullpen area as McClanahan escapes and the score remains 1-0. Nathan Eovaldi was pitching well early for Boston and retired the Rays in order in the bottom of the 3rd to send the game to the 4th inning with Boston up 1-0. Tampa Bay would get on the board with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th after Eovaldi spotted a fastball right on the edge of the plate that should have been a K to end the inning and instead turned into a HR s Eovaldi threw a splitter that stayed in the zone and Brandon Lowe belted a solo HR to tie the game 1-1. McClanahan and Eovaldi would get through 5 innings on the mound and the game would to the 6th inning with the score tied 1-1. Jeffrey Springs took over for McClanahan and pitched a scoreless top of the 6th and Kevin Kiermaier would lead off the bottom of the 6th and get a cutter low and in that he was able to barrel up and launch high and deep to CF for a solo HR giving Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead. Jason Adam pitched a dominant top of the 7th for Tampa Bay striking out the side and Matt Strahm pitched a scoreless bottom half of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning. JP Feyereisen retired the side in the top of the 8th for the Rays and Strahm would combine with Ryan Brasier to set the Rays down in the bottom of the 8th as we would head to the 9th inning with the Rays leading 2-1. The Red Sox came up to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 2-1 with Devers, Bogaerts and Martinez due up and Rays closer Andrew Kittredge coming on to try and close it our for Tampa Bay. Yandy Diaz made a nice play catching pop up in foul ground down the LF line retiring Devers for the first out and Bogaerts would drive a liner towards the gap in right-center but Phillips would make a nice running catch and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Kittredge would finish it off by striking out JD Martinez and the Rays hang on to win a tight one 2-1

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #22 of Season

Boston Red Sox (13-8) @ Tampa Bay Rays (12-9)
Pitching Matchup – Nick Pivetta vs Drew Rasmussen

The Rays got things started in the bottom of the 2nd with a solo HR from Brett Phillips giving and they would add a run in the bottom of the 3rd when Francisco Mejia led off with a double before moving up to 3rd base on a ground ball out by Wander Franco and coming in to score on a RBI sac fly from Randy Arozarena as Tampa Bay had a 2-0 lead after 3 innings. The score remained 2-0 into the top of the 5th inning where Rasmussen would hang a breaking ball to Trevor Story leading off the inning and Story would launch a solo HR to LF cutting the Rays lead to 2-1. Rasmussen was running out of gas and would exit with 2 outs in the top of the 5th as Luis Patino came on to get Jarren Duran on a fly ball out to end the frame. Pivetta retired the side in the bottom of the 5th and we would head to the 6th inning with the Rays leading 2-1. Patino would get through the top of the 6th with ease while the Rays got a 2 out double from Ji-Man Choi in the bottom half but failed to score as Yandy Diaz smoked a ball towards the gap but Jackie Bradley would make a nice catch on the run to end the inning and send the game to the 7th with Tampa Bay leading 2-1. Jeffrey Springs took over on the mound and recorded two quick outs to begin the top of the 7th before Franchy Cordero ripped a double down the RF line. Jackie Bradley drew a walk to put two men on with 2 outs and Matt Wisler would come on to face Christian Vazquez in a big spot and Wisler would get the job done after a good battle as he stuck out Vazquez on the 8th pitch of the at bat to end the top of the 7th with the 201 lead still intact. Diekman pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th striking out Mejia looking with Kiermaier in scoring position to end the inning and send the game to the 8th with the Rays leading 2-1. Brooks Raley recorded two quick outs before Rafael Devers singled in the top of the 8th but JD Martinez would fly out to the warning track in right-center where Kiermaier would make the catch ending the frame. Diekman returned to the mound to being the bottom of the 8th and left a sinker over the plate that Brandon Lowe launched into the RF stands for a solo HR leading off the bottom of the 8th to extend the Rays lead to 3-1. Hirokazu Sawamura took over for Diekman and issued back to back walks to put two men on. Choi was up next and drove a ball deep to RF where Jackie Bradley made the catch on the warning track before crashing into the wall and firing to Story who was out in shallow RF for the cut off and Story turned and fired to the plate as the speedy Franco was trying to score all the way from second base and the throw from Story was just in time to nail Franco at the plate for a crazy double play. The Red Sox came to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 3-1 with Andrew Kittredge coming on to try and close it out for Tampa Bay. Alex Verdugo flew out to Kiermaier in CF for the 1st out before Trevor Story singled to bring the tying run to the plate with 1 out. Franchy Cordero hammered a ball the opposite way on a line towards the gap in left-center but Manuel Margot got to it to make a terrific running catch to take away extra bases and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Jackie Bradley battled to a full count before Kittredge would get him swinging on a pitch in the dirt for the final out as the Red Sox lose another tight ball game to the Rays 3-1

Re: TNK MLB 22 Sliders

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #23 of Season

Boston Red Sox (13-9) @ Toronto Blue Jays (10-12)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Ross Stripling

The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st when Rafael Devers doubled with 1 out and JD Martinez hit a 2-run HR to CF with 2 outs just over the leaping attempt by Springer at the wall. Santiago Espinal tripled with 1 out in the bottom of the 1st but Garrett Whitlock came back with back to back Ks of Vladimir Guerrero and George Springer to get out of the inning with the Sox leading 2-0. Boston got a lead off walk by Franchy Cordero and a double down the RF line by Jackie Bradley to put two men in scoring position with nobody out in the top of the 2nd and Christian Vazquez picked up a RBI with a sac fly to score Cordero and make it 3-0. The Blue Jays got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd when Alejandro Kirk belted a 2-run HR down the LF line to cut the Boston lead to 3-2. The score remained 3-2 until the Red Sox exploded in the top of the 4th as Christian Vazquez lined a RBI single to CF making it 4-2 and Stripling hung a slider that Kike Hernandez blasted 423 feet for a 3-run HR to open up a 7-2 Red Sox lead and knock Stripling out of the game as Trent Thornton came in from the pen to take over on the mound. The Blue Jays got a solo HR from Cavan Biggio in the 5th inning to cut the deficit to 7-3. Toronto continued to chip away at the Red Sox lead as Vladimir Guerrero and Lourdes Gurriel hit solo HRs in the bottom of the 6th but Whitlock would get through the inning and we would head to the 7th inning with Boston leading 7-5. Xander Bogaerts and Alex Verdugo singled to put two men on for Boston against Trevor Richards in the top of the 7th and Richards would hit Cordero to load the bases for Jackie Bradley with 2 outs. Richards would get Bradley chasing a breaking ball in the dirt for a huge K to end the threat and keep it a 7-5 game. Matt Strahm took over on the mound for Boston and made quick work of the Jays in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 7-5. Adam Cimber stranded a man in scoring position in the top of the 8th for Toronto and the Jays got a lead off double by Espinal against Ryan Brasier to begin the bottom of the 8th. Brasier came back with two huge Ks of Guerrero and springer before Gurriel lined a single up the middle that scored Espinal to cut the Red Sox lead to 7-6. Brasier would get Zack Collins to pop out to end the inning and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 7-6. JD Martinez led off the top of the 9th with a rocket over the LF wall for his 2nd HR of the night to give the Red Sox a big insurance run making it 8-6. Matt Barnes came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th for Boston looking to close it out. Barnes began the bottom of the 9th by striking out Kirk before Biggio punched a double down the LF line with 1 out. Barnes would get Tapia to ground out to Bogaerts and the Blue Jays were down to their final out with Bo Bichette coming up. Bichette would drive a fastball the opposite way off the wall for a RBI double in the corner to make it a 8-7 game. Santiago Espinal would step in with Vladimir Guerrero in the on deck circle and Barnes would reach back and blow a 98 mph fastball past Espinal for a game ending K as the Red Sox hang on for a 8-7 victory

Re: TNK MLB 22 Sliders

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #24 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-9) @ Toronto Blue Jays (10-13)
Pitching Matchup – Michael Wacha vs Alek Manoah

The Red Sox were forced to go to the bullpen with 1 out in the bottom of the 1st inning when Michael Wacha was forced to leave the game due to injury. Tanner Houck came in to take over on the mound and was pitching well as Houck and Manoah had allowed just 1 hit each through 3 innings and the game would head to the 4th inning tied 0-0. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 4th when Rafael Devers led off with a double and Xander Bogaerts got a sinker from Manoah that stayed up and drove it over the wall in LF for a 2-run HR to give Boston a 2-0 lead. Bobby Dalbec led off the top of the 5th by hooking a ball down the LF line for a solo HR to make it 3-0. Houck continued his outstanding work out of the pen as he retired the side in order in the bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Manoah picked up his 10th K in the top of the 6th and Houck retired the first two batters before Bo Bichette hit a fly ball high and deep to left-center that just cleared the wall for a solo HR cutting the Sox lead to 3-1. Houck would get out of the inning as Vladimir Guerrero hit a ground ball up the middle but Bogaerts would make a nice diving play and throw from his rear end to retire Guerrero and send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Bobby Dalbec hit his 2nd HR of the game in the top of the 7th as he drove a pitch from Julian Merryweather the opposite way for a solo HR to make it a 4-1 game. Hirokazu Sawamura took over on the mound for Boston in the bottom of the 7th and Zack Collins hit a solo HR with 1 out to cut the deficit to 4-2 but Sawamura would come back to get the final two outs of the inning and the game would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-2. The Red Sox would give themselves some insurance against Merryweather in the top of the 8th as Devers doubled with 1 out before Merryweather left a slider up and over the plate and Bogaerts absolutely clobbered it for his 2nd HR of the game making it 6-2. Austin Davis came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston and would give up a RBI double to Bichette with 2 outs to cut the Sox lead to 6-3. Hansel Robles came on and gave up a single to Guerrero bringing the tying run to the plate with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Lourdes Gurriel was up next and lined a RBI single to LF making it 6-4 but Robles would get Collins to ground out to Story at second base ending the inning and sending the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 6-4. The Red Sox blew the game open in the top of the 9th against Jordan Romano as Jackie Bradley knocked in Story with a RBI single and Kike Hernandez added a RBI double making it 8-4. Yimi Garcia replaced Romano on the mound and Rafael Devers welcomed him with an opposite field rocket for a 2-run HR to give Boston a 10-4 lead. Robles pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th and the Red Sox win 10-4

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox slug their way to a 10-4 victory and have taken the first two games of this 4 game series in Toronto

* The Red Sox improve to 15-9 while the Blue Jays drop to 10-14 on the season

* Red Sox starter Michael Wacha left the game in the top of the 1st after facing just two batters with an with a busted finger nail on his pitching hand. Tanner Houck came in to take over on the mound and pitched great as he went 5.2 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 6 Ks to earn the win and improve to 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA. Wacha will not reuire a trip to the injured list and is expected to make his next start

* The Red Sox offense was powered by Xander Bogaerts and Bobby Dalbec who each launched 2 home runs in the game. Bogaerts went 2 for 5 with 2 HR & 4 RBI while Dalbec went 2 for 4 with 2 HR & 2 RBI.

* Rafael Devers continues to heat up as he went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a HR of the season as he has raised has his average up to .247 after a cold start although the power numbers are there as he has 10 HR & 17 RBI on the season

* Bo Bichette(5) and Zack Collins (3) homered for Toronto

* Alex Verdugo went 0 for 4 and his 10 game hitting streak comes to an end

* The Red Sox and Blue Jays will play the 3rd game of this 4 game series tomorrow with Rich Hill getting the start for Boston against Yusei Kikuchi for Toronto

* I'll be shortening the recaps going forward
