Re: Universal DH / MLB 21 / MLB 22
I used traditional DH rules in both MLB '21 and MLB '22.
I will say that from my personal experience, the AI seems to try to sign/acquire guys to fulfill the DH role in '22 even if you have it set to AUTO (traditional DH rules). This has led to frustration on my end as I really enjoy '22 on the field, but seeing this happen puts a damper on the experience for me.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Universal DH / MLB 21 / MLB 22
I'm still playing 20, but yeah, I play with universal DH on.
I get the "strategic" and nostalgics part of having no DH, but I've always been pro-DH, so it just seems right to me.
Also, I find that with my user-controlled team, I can get more accurate games played/AB's/etc. with it on, since (in '20 at least) player energy typically has a lot of players needing to be subbed out every 5 or 6 games. It's kind of weird and maybe unrelated, but I've also found that injuries seem up a bit when I'm rolling a similar lineup out most days. Could 100% just be dumb-luck (or being unlucky, since I've got 3 regulars out of my lineup, as well as 2 starting pitchers...), but I'm certainly enjoying it.
I do still have a few platoon players that split time, so that keeps bench player AB's fairly regular as well. Really only 1 player on my roster that doesn't play frequently, as he's just a pinch runner/late game defensive replacement.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

DH on for sure. Last year I played almost half a season with traditional rules and ended up starting over to turn the DH on. I was very happy the NL adopted the rule irl this year, so I was all in on it.
The fact that it doesn't have DH is honestly part of the reason I haven't played much DD this year compared to last.

I played 19 and 20 with the DH on. Having an extra batter to accumulate stats was nice.
I'm playing 21 with traditional rules (no DH in the NL). I love the extra strategy and it makes interleague games feel different. And double switching is fun. I do that often with Ozuna in LF.
The next version I buy, I'll probably go with the DH.Comment

I'm playing with the DH on in '22. I don't LOVE it - but using an AL team for the first time this year, I went ahead and did so. I've made it to year 3 of my "play every game" franchise, so it apparently hasn't hampered me too much

Re: Universal DH / MLB 21 / MLB 22
When I played 22 I had it set to On for all.
In my current 20 franchise, I have the traditional AL on, NL off rules. But I use an AL team so it doesn't impact me too much.Funkycorm

I'm not nearly as opposed to a universal dh as much as I used to be but I'm gonna stay (for the most part) with traditional al dh/nl pitcher bat for the next couple years then I guess I'll go universal dh after. my main hang-up is I like the two separate leagues to have separate rules otherwise do away with the name American and National league name and do what the NFL AFL merger created in football, call them American and National conference of Major League Baseball. heck, they did away with league presidents over 20 years ago, time to retire the league name too afaicOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

NO DH
It is an abomination and set the precedence of MLB officials with only $$$ on the mind & no love for the game to keep ADDING unnecessary elements to baseball to 'keep up with the Joneses' of NFL & NBA, yet baseball is not like those sports & cannot follow the same formula. Eg. Does anyone care about Tom Brady smashing passing records or the fact RBs are a 2 person committee now? No
BUT, that steroid (juiced ball IMO) era got a big boom and then a quick deflate when people started questioning records being broken so easily and by so many & 'moneyball' lasted even less as chants of boring echoed bars around the land when someone mentioned baseball. HR/BB or K followed by a 15 minute Instant replay.
If baseball NOW was the same as baseball in 1972 would anyone be saying the game was too slow or too boring? I highly doubt it...but just a couple of rusty pennies from an old man, sorry for my rant lol
Oh and I hope it is still optional next season but I am doubting itLast edited by olecrankygamer; 09-24-2022, 02:38 AM.Comment
