SDS Mailing in another year of The Show

So still on Old Gen, still no separate version for Next Gen. So Same Engine, same graphics. $99 version to get early access to a game from a cosmetic and AI Logic standpoint will not be different. Imo that the uniform/player models have not changed at all is a joke.. Just look at the grass model alone for FC 24 vs The Show. This baseball game cannot evolve with this engine. How much proof do you need ?

The game peaked with the PS3. It's been a slow death since then. I've bought every game since 2006 but have no interest this year. I'll just keep patiently waiting for EACFB news as that's more entertaining than playing a dated game.

In fairness, we’ve seen no footage or screenshots of 24 other than the Switch version. The fact that the last gen version this year is digital only gives me some hope that next gen will see some cosmetic upgrades but we’ll see.

So you have inside info on the game? Because to this point we know nothing about it other than the cover athlete and the release date.

How about we wait until there is a gameplay trailer, announcement of new features and what not before declaring a "mail in?"

i would not say mailing it in however if anyone was expecting ground breaking changes on a 8 month dev cycle you mite want to skip this years title or pick it up on sale. it is a bummer its still on last gen however with it being digital only on last gen i bet this is the end. seems like mlb really changes every two years so id expect 25 to take a step forward.

Well thanks for stopping by, we'll enjoy The Show for you!

Keep on waiting for that, EACFB still doesn't have official release date.

I could say that probably about every sports game in some capacity in terms of innovation and features.

But gameplay? Come on man. The Show plays a better “game” of baseball now than it ever had before. They hit a stumbling block on 21/22 with gameplay IMO (highly open to debate and subjective but that’s my opinion). I can confidently say MLB 23 on the PS5 is the best playing console baseball game I ever played.

The pitcher/batter showdown is as realistic as ever before (that is the heart and soul of baseball).

I don’t disagree innovation has not taken a lot of leaps since leaving the PS3 era but then again how much more can we expect in that regard. Baseball is baseball.

I totally get the frustration with no graphical leaps, better customization tools for roster creators and dated AI inside franchise mode and on field CPU managerial strategy.....that needs an overhaul. And I think once they leave behind the PS4 generation that can happen.

But until then this is it. So if you love the gameplay your gonna get the game regardless at some point (look how long it took me to grab 23).

For some it is a day one purchase every year.....for some it’s not anymore.

But this game is not a PS3 game......not even close. I went back and played MLB 11/12 on the PS3.

Hitting and pitching has come a long way. Ball physics, defensive animations and ball spins, it’s all been a slow and steady ascent to 23 and we will see what 24 has to offer at some point.

IMO Franchise Mode is great. They have every single CBA rule in there and the fact of the matter is we have 30 team control to really make it whatever we want. At least that’s what I have always done.

Does it need TLC....yeah we all agree on that. Expanded Rosters are sorely needed but won’t happen until they break free of the PS4 IMO.

The trade engine needs work, budgets need to reflect more and more today’s payrolls, contracts, international free agency etc etc etc.

But this franchise mode is my favorite on the sports market in terms of stability and playability long term. I played 7 full seasons every pitch and every inning and had a total blast. It was easily the best franchise mode sports game experience I ever had. Playing the actual games is a huge part of my franchise experience and the storylines that dawn from actually playing the game.....that’s the heart and soul for me.

Hopefully SDS looks at 2K’s franchise model for customization and flexibility (My Era mode and My league) for future iterations and innovation for their baseball game.

I just don’t buy the whole "mailing it in” comment. Sports games are tough. It’s a yearly cycle. It’s brutal.

They produce a quality product year in year out (despite my disappointment from 21 and 22) and the game sells a ton.

The landscape of sports gaming has changed drastically from solo offline franchise heads like myself and many around here to online E sports.

Hell my own son who is playing college baseball is majoring in E-Sports Management and Marketing.

It is a multi billion dollar industry and one of the fastest growing industries in the world......not the country.....THE WORLD.

                        It is what it is.

As someone who stuck with MLB 20 for 4 straight cycles........MLB 23 was not a dated game.....god no. I don’t understand how that can be said with a straight face.

I know I'm not crazy. LOL. I stopped playing Madden and NBA a couple years ago and haven't looked back. I don't even visit that forum anymore. I haven't stopped playing '23 since it's release. It's a fantastic game. I envision '24 to be some kind of improvement over '23. How much? No idea.

Boy people hate when someone bashes the love child The Show lol.

In all seriousness OG I get some of how you feel. Another round of no new graphics (Though I feel like my eyes would not even know the difference anymore unless a player reached out of the screen and touched me). And yes, it feels at times by the time they release new graphics PS6 will be out. So, I get that.

I am not sure as I am not a coder if new graphics has anything to do with AI logic. So, I would not guarantee no new logic.

On the other side of things though the game plays great. Yes, it has some flaws, but every game does. Find me one game with ZERO flaws? Do we really need perfect graphics if the game play is solid? I mean I still love to go back and play RBI baseball on the old Nintendo's. Those graphics are so outdated but it's a fun game. Everything has become about graphics and it's a shame. Gameplay should be first.

Let's wait and see what new features are in the game before we jump off any bridges. And if the new features so not excite you well an easy solution. DO not buy the game
