Win games and make the playoffs. You can also boost your revenue with sponsorships

The only way to truly make any significant impact on payroll for your franchise play is to do so before you start. Otherwise, the increase thru revenue and sponsorship is minimal at best and not in anyway enough to significantly change your budget or any of the other teams.

The only way I've been able to truly change up the league so that it's not the same teams always buying and selling players is to go in and add a cpl of 1yr 35M deals to low talent players who have no future. Their contract is on the payroll at the start, but because they are low tier players with no future they're allowed to walk leaving behind that extra payroll for use in future deals.

I really dislike doing it but it's the only way to breath new life into the league where it's the same teams always buying and selling.
