40 Man Roster Question

In Franchise, doing 30 team control, can I start with less than 40 men on the 40 man roster or will the CPU automatically add to it to make it 40? The Braves started the year with only 37 and I'd like to mirror the real life roster. Thanks.

If not mistaken, if you are controlling all 30 teams, it will tell you that that team is missing part of their lineup, rotation and 40 man roster and you have to click auto-correct.

I could be wrong but I thought the CPU automatically fills it to 40. I thought that's why the trick of just starting a season with 26 men on the 40 men roster to get lineups and rotations to stick doesn't work anymore.

In the "mode specific" part of your 30 team control pre-sets, there is an option to make the 40 man roster manual, or automatic. If its manual, the CPU shouldn't fill it.

You can also set lineups/rotations to Manual but the CPU messes those up. I'll double check again later. Last year I tried starting a Franchise with only 26 players on my 40 man roster and I thought it added players when I entered my Franchise.

I've not seen that happen at all. I think that's probably a setting issue. There is a lot of various settings that could mess that stuff up. From my experience at least.....who knows.

That's my experience as well. Even when I set everything to Manual before starting up the Franchise (both in the profile that I'm using and on the Franchise startup screens) and at the outset I'll always have 40 players on the 40-Man.

What I've done is add those veterans on a minor league deal or add an older D potential prospect (guys that likely won't be claimed on waivers) to fill it out to 40 before you start the Franchise and then immediately DFA them to preserve their options.
