I don't know. It's like they're trying to go a million different directions with this game, and end up only halfway implementing things. We have the challenge rule that has been in MLB for years, and still isn't even close to being fully implemented into the game. We have stadium creator that's been in for years that has never been expanded beyond dinosaurs and aliens.(Things that no one was asking for) Now we have the negro leagues and college that can't be touched outside of one mode. I really don't know what they're going for these days.

If you go to college you play a couple of CWS games and then go back into the draft and that’s it.
I’m 99% sure you’re exactly right. To repeat what I said in an earlier comment, the trailer has a disclaimer when showing college clips that they are limited to the RTTS mode.

There aren’t going to be real players, just like the Negro League storylines have the same handful of generic players on every roster outside yours and sometimes 1-2 additional characters necessary for the story.

I love college baseball, but commenters in the thread who are speaking as if this is going to get a successor to the MVP NCAA games are ignoring the evidence and just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I would absolutely love it if someone would make a full college baseball game like EA did back in the day. I'm not sure how much of a market there is for college baseball though.

I think a return of college basketball video games would come first, then maybe a college baseball game.

I read that EA and 2K had both had discussions about a college basketball game. I'm hoping for 2K to revive College Hoops.

They will most likely have as available for DD. Would love to use some metal bats in DD just for hearing the loud ping noise.

But I doubt they spent that much money on the team licensing. Also having the teams in with fake players kind of defeats the purpose of having the teams in other modes, at least for me personally. If they had the stadiums and player licensing for NIL, then it’d be fun and probably a way to include it in franchise too. But it’s really just the teams names and basic jerseys and that’s it, so not what it would add to exhibition mode.

Was a huge NCAA basketball fan when both made those games, but with the growth of one-and-done, I’m not sure there would be as much interest in it anymore. It just seems like the women’s tournament has grown in popularity, but the men’s game has lost some interest. Still popular for betting when march madness rolls around, but not the overall popularity likes the 90s and 2000s.

It’d be awesome, but there’s not enough of a market.

The only reason it *ever* happened back in 06/07 was that EA had a complete baseball game ready to go but could no longer create an MLB product, so to cut their losses they leveraged their existing relationship with the NCAA from the football and basketball games.

Even in that environment of unusually low development costs, the poor sales canceled it after only two years.

Yes, I was very disappointed by how limited this was. 2 -- 3 games in high school and 3 -- 4 games in college, based on their blog. I hope they expand this in future versions. I went from "have to buy" to "it can wait". I was thinking I would have the ability to:

Play a "full season" in high school (about 15 -- 20 games) followed by a short State championship tournament. Afterward you enter the July Entry Draft and begin your pro career. Opt for college? Play a season or two followed by the CWS. Regardless of the path, you end up in the July 2025 Entry draft.

That's why I always try to not get my hopes up.

While this would be cool, most people just want to get to the MLB. They should allow you to pick how many games you want to play (up to a max number) so you can control how much you play at each level, but that would be a way to just expand the mode.
