New to Baseball Gaming!

Wassup OSers! I'm interested in purchasing MLB The Show when it comes out but there's one problem....I HAVE NO CLUE WHATSOEVER ABOUT BASEBALL as far as ratings for players and what makes a player good for the position he plays. I've played a few single games here and there but I would be clueless when it comes to running a team in franchise mode.
Is there anywhere I could go to kind of get a brief breakdown on positions, skills, ratings and whatever else that would help?

Thanks In Advance!!!

First off, if you were planning on getting this, (especially on PS4) DO IT! Now, as far as your question... just play a bunch of play now games, and research baseball until you get the hang of what your trying to find out. best advice I can give you. Others may have more input.

Re: New to Baseball Gaming!

For the game....

1B-reaction(fielding)-power-contact
2B-contact-speed-reaction
3B-power-reaction-contact
SS-reaction-speed-contact
OF...best reaction guy in CF....best arm strength/acc in RF....next best OVR in LF
C-power-reaction/blocking-arm strength

For pitchers....I concentrate on control over velocity.....I go...control/break/velocity....

For me the /9 numbers...

BB/9-H/9 -K/9 and then HR/9

I'm sure other guys have their own thoughts on it....that will differ from mine...but that's a starting point IMO.

Re: New to Baseball Gaming!

I would use the Cubs, as they have as much of an idea about baseball as you say you do.

Or if you're the Mets...wait until the Cubs release them....you sign them and then overpay them!.....for YEARS and YEARS!
All while completely ignoring any worthwhile FA signings!
